Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation in Light Porcelain Review and Swatches

I have a feeling that Rimmel must have read my review of their 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation last month as I mentioned how much I loved the shade and lasting power, but I hated how heavy and suffocating it felt upon my skin. I hadn’t heard anything about this new foundation until I spotted it when placing an order on Superdrug a couple of weeks ago, and instantly added it to my online basket. I can’t even find this foundation on the Rimmel website?! The Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation £7.99 is described as a skin perfecting medium coverage foundation that feels hydrating and moisturising upon the skin with a lightweight formula that blends into the skin to create a nude, poreless effect. It has some pretty impressive claims of being sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for upto 25 hours.

When Rimmel launched their Light Porcelain shade, I knew I had to try it for myself to see if it was a good match so I bought the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and I was so happy to discover that it’s the palest drugstore foundation I’ve ever tried. As the shade was such a good match, I decided to try the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation but was surprised to find that the Wake Me Up Light Porcelain was actually different in shade to the Lasting Finish foundation. Again this new Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation’s Light Porcelain is different yet again like you can see above; the Nude version has more of a yellow undertone.

Even though this has a stronger yellow undertone than the original (light porcelain) Lasting Finish foundation, it still matches me very well so if you have a cool pink undertone I’d still recommend trying this as I can easily make it work. I just wish Rimmel were more consistent with their shades across their different foundations, as they differ so much.
This Nude version is definitely more lightweight than the original Lasting Finish foundation, which I’m so grateful for as the original felt so suffocating on my skin. This feels lighter and airier on the skin and like my skin can still breath. It still offers reasonable coverage.. covering any acne scarring, but not blemishes so I need to use my NARS Creamy Concealer in the areas I need a little extra coverage. What I particularly like about the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation is that it still allows my freckles to show through so my skin still looks like skin so the ‘nude’ description is actually very apt. I like how natural this foundation is but I wouldn’t say it gave a ‘poreless’ effect like it claims. It does however deliver on its claims of being a long lasting foundation which I love as I’m a serial face toucher which usually makes my foundation fade quite quickly.
Overall I am impressed by this foundation.. it really is the perfect hybrid of the lightweight feel of the Rimmel Lasting Perfection foundation, with the coverage and wear time of the Lasting Finish foundation. I’d really recommend trying this foundation.. especially if you’re very pale like me, as it’s a great shade match – which doesn’t happen very often.
