The MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder in Pink Shimmer (reviewed here) is one of my favourite budget highlighters, so when I saw that MUA has released a new shade to the range, I knew it had to be mine. The Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powders have a patterned pan which is great considering how affordable they are. The Pink Shimmer highlighter is very metallic.. so much so, it can look quite unnatural on the skin so it’s important to use a light hand. The new Iridescent Gold shade is a lot less metallic which I love as it’s more versatile for everyday use, whereas I tend to keep Pink Shimmer for special occasions.
If you already own the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade Golden Lights, you may think that this is very similar if not identical.. however it’s very different. This is much more of a cool toned paler gold, whereas the Makeup Revolution offering is warmer in tone. They both have a similar consistency, but they really are different in shade. I also much prefer the design on the powder on the MUA powders compared to the Makeup Revolution design.
The MUA website’s photo of the Iridescent Gold Highlighter is very yellow, so I was surprised when my order arrived and it looked much more white than it does gold, so don’t be put off by the yellowness of the image on their website – I don’t think it’s a fair representation of the shade at all. I really do think this is a gorgeous highlighter regardless of its price, and it has a lovely, pretty, fine shimmer without being chunky or glittery. It leaves such a stunning glow on the skin, and the fact that it costs £3 makes me love it even more. Sometimes golden highlighters can be a bit much for my pale, pink undertones, but this is really flattering on my skintone so I imagine it would suit everyone.
I really don’t think you’ll find a prettier highlighter for under £5 than this beauty….
