I am really excited to announce that NYX Professional Makeup have launched onto Debenhams which is such exciting news. I have raved about NYX Professional Makeup as a brand here on my blog ever since I started nearly five years ago when we would only buy their products through their UK website where they used to have a high order threshold so it’s incredible that they’re now available on Debenhams website. To celebrate the NYX Professional Makeup x Debenhams launch I was sent their bestselling makeup products so I could review and swatch everything for you here on my blog as well as show you their pretty new launch; the Contour Intuitive Palette. If you haven’t already signed up the Debenhams Beauty Club, you need to as you get free delivery on beauty orders which always makes me feel a little less guilty when beauty splurging.
This is a cream colour silicone based primer which is infused with vitamin E to help minimise the appearance of pores whilst also prepping the complexion for smooth makeup application. Sometimes silicone primers can feel quite greasy or oily on the skin but the Pore Filler is formulated without oil or talc so it feels quite lightweight on the skin. It can feel a little drying so I prefer to apply it to just my problem areas such as the sides of nose, the centre of my forehead and nose and use a more hydrating primer on the perimeters of my face. I can honestly say this primer is just as effective as Benefit POREfessional except it’s better than half the price so it’s a must try if you love the Benefit primer, especially as it feels kinder to the skin.
I don’t suffer from masses of shine but I do get a little too glowy if I’m using a super rich moisturiser so I do like to use something to try and mattify the skin in the places I don’t want shine, and then use highlighter to put shine back where I want it. This has a clear consistency which feels very smooth and easy to work into the skin and a little goes a long way, especially as I only need to use a tiny amount each day. I found it to be very effective at mattifying my shine from my skincare and it also feeling relatively hydrating too.
The Strobe of Genius Palette contains seven velvety powder highlighters in warm, cool and neutral shades. The shades are quite strong for skin as pale as mine but I think they’d work amazingly for any skintones which are deeper than mine. I can get away with using the two middle shades on the top row and the last shade on the bottom row but the others are shades I can only use as eyeshadows but they’re all beautifully pigmented. Even though my skintone isn’t ideal for the range of shades within the palette, I do appreciate that the shades are incredibly unique compared to the shades you usually find within highlighter palettes with just champagnes and light golds.
This has to be my favourite product from the bestsellers as purple is my favourite colour so these cool toned shades are right up my street. The square palette contains sixteen powder eyeshadows in a mixture of matte, satins, shimmers and metallics and I really like that it contains a great combination of tones from the palest cream to the darkest black. My two standout shades have to be shade 11 which is a duochrome green and brown shade as well as shade 14 which is a matte black containing multicoloured sparkle. There is only one disappointing shade which is shade 16; a matte bright purple but the other shades are beautiful.
NYX Professional Makeup Contour Intuitive Palette – Warm Zone £18
The Contour Intuitive Palette is available in a number of different varieties, and I have the Warm Zone Palette which contains gorgeous warm toned shades. The palette contains two large powder highlighters, one powder blush and six powder eyeshadows. The eyeshadows really are beautiful with a matte cream, a shimmery copper, a cool brown matte, a warm dark matte, a deep red matte and a yellowy gold shimmer. The two highlighters include a warm gold and a cooler gold whilst the blush is matte bright peach. The pigmentation of everything is very good; especially the eyeshadows with the mattes being buttery soft and the two shimmers have a foil finish. The blush does take a little building but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when the shade is as bright as this and the two highlighters work nicely as eyeshadows too. If these shades aren’t your kind of shades, there are a few other palettes to choose from.
NYX Professional Makeup Liquid Suede – Downtown Beauty £7
I have to start by saying this shade isn’t one I’d personally wear but please don’t let the shade put you off the formula as I already own two other shades and I love them. Downtown Beauty is a warm mahogany red which I sadly can’t pull off but they have a really impressive shade range depending on which shades you like. The Liquid Suedes have a velvety soft matte finish which is waterproof and easy to apply, and the shades I own wear off nicely too.
NYX Professional Makeup Lingerie Liquid Lipstick – Exotic £9
I have read so much about the NYX Professional Makeup Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks but I’ve never tried them myself so I was excited to be able to finally try one and Exotic is a deep browny toned red. The formula is actually quite similar to the Liquid Suedes with a lightweight matte finish. The shades within the Lingerie range are all different shades of nude so there’s a shade for every skintone, and I’d love to try one of their paler nude shades as the formula is so comfortable.
NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss – Strawberry Parfait £5.50
The Butter Glosses are one of my favourite lip gloss formulas and I’ve raved about them here on my blog before. I already own Strawberry Parfait but I don’t mind having a backup as it’s the prettiest bright pink. Admittedly it looks quite bright and scary in the tube but it’s not an opaque gloss so you opt for a sheer application with one swipe or build up the intensity with a couple of swipes. The Butter Glosses have to be the nicest smelling glosses I’ve ever tried as they all smell divine like caramel or butterscotch and they feel buttery soft on the lips.
NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream – Budapest £6
The Soft Matte Lip Creams are a blogger favourite, especially those that love a matte lip. I personally prefer the Liquid Suede and Lingerie formula as I find them to be a little less drying in comparison. Shade wise, could Budapest be any more perfect for Autumn and Winter?! It’s a beautiful berry shade which is a little lighter than the tube which I’ve found to be the case with quite a few of the Soft Matte Lip Cream shades but it’s still a super pretty shade regardless.
I’d love to know if you’re excited about the NYX Professional Makeup x Debenhams Launch? Do you have a favourite NYX Professional Makeup product?
