REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum

REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum

REN are a much loved skincare brand which features in many different beauty boxes with their effective formulas the right amount of naturally derived hi tech bio-actives that help the skin help itself. My personal favourite REN product would have to be the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask which is a super hyped product within the beauty community for its ability to instantly improve skin tone and texture. REN have just launched a brand new product with pretty bold claims… the REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum £50. Described as being ‘better skin in a bottle‘, the REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum is clinically proven with 100% of women tested experiencing smoother skin, after just 14 days.

“Better skin in a bottle : full of bio-actives this silicone-free serum is perfect to use after moisturiser. The skin is smooth, lifted and naturally filled, resulting in a matte finish and creating the perfect canvas upon which to apply make-up.

Perfect Canvas smoothes, lifts, reduces pore-size and naturally fills so your skin is primed, while boosting skin’s immune system (less breakouts).

Last step of skincare, first step of make-up, Perfect Canvas will help provide you with the skin you have always wanted without the use of silicone allowing the skin to breath freely.

REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum

The REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum is packaged within a white, glass bottle complete with a glass pipette dispenser which I use to dispense three to four drops onto the back of my hand and apply to my face with my fingertips as a finishing skincare step before I apply my makeup primer. As a skin finishing serum, you could potentially use this product instead of a primer but I always use a primer as I have super dry skin and need a barrier between my makeup and skin for my makeup to look as smooth and even as possible. This primer would be a good option for those that don’t want to wear makeup every day, but they still want their skin to look more uniform and even as it really does blur and perfect the skin.

If you’re wanting a blurring effect on the skin, you’d typically have to use a silicone based primer to fill pores and lines but the new REN Perfect Canvas is silicone free which is quite remarkable considering how effective it is at blurring the skin. The serum is totally clear with almost an oil-like consistency, which appears to lather very slightly for a couple of seconds as it’s being massaged into the skin; as shown in the middle photo above, before fully absorbing with an instant mattifying effect. I don’t particularly need my skin mattifying, but I imagine this mattification would be amazing for oily skin to combat shine prior to applying makeup.

Once the serum has fully absorbed, the skin is left completely matte but very slightly tacky so it’ll act as a magnet for your makeup. I can’t comment on whether it makes my makeup last any longer as I always use it alongside my makeup primer of my choice, but it certainly does smooth the skin. It also means I can just use an hydrating primer as the serum offers the blurring effects a silicone primer would, except silicone primers tend to be super drying on the skin whereas this serum is quite the opposite thanks to the hyaluronic acid. I think the REN Perfect Canvas Silicone Free Skin Finishing Serum will be a big hit for REN, even though it’s pretty pricey at £50 for 30ml. I like how it offers blurring effects, mattification and smoothing of the skin as well as the number of skincare benefits – all in just one, easy and quick to apply step.
