Maybelline’s 24H Color Tattoo’s have featured on so many blogger and YouTuber 2013 favourites, although I’m not at all surprised. I love the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s, they’re such a fantastic product. When it comes to eye makeup I’m very much a neutral girl, plumping for ‘safe’ neutrals using my On and On Bronze (review) and Barely Branded every single day alone, or as a base for eyeshadow. During the last couple of months I’d seen a huge amount of bloggers review the Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate shade which didn’t really appeal, however I decided to give it a try as I own MAC Cranberry so I knew I’d be able to use it for a base for Cranberry at the very least.
Maybelline Color Tattoo’s are so affordable at just £4.99 each, however I really wish that Maybelline would release more neutral shades in the UK, or even the matte collection they launched in 2013 over in the US. A lot of the shades are quite vivid and bright, and not shades I’d wear on a day-to-day basis which is why I tend to buy MAC Paint Pots as they have a much better selection of shades.
When I swatched Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate I expected it to be a lot more red than it is, I always assumed from the swatches I’d seen it was a strong burgundy red shade. However when applied sheerly, it looks more of a reddy brown maroon shade. I do like this shade but it’s not my a shade I’d feel comfortable wearing on a daily basis as I feel limited on what eyeshadow shades I can apply over the top. MAC Cranberry looks amazing layered over this Color Tattoo, they really do make the perfect pair but Cranberry again isn’t a shade I wear all too often.
Just like the other shades, the Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate 24H Color Tattoo lasts for at least 9 hours without fading, creasing or flaking. Their formula and staying power is amazing and I really recommend them if you haven’t tried them. I’m glad I bit the bullet and bought this shade, but it’s my least favourite shade from the seven Color Tattoo’s that I own. The formula is flawless it’s just that for me personally I don’t think reddy brown shades like this suit my colouring.
