Models Own Speckled Eggs Duck Blue Nail Polish

Easter may be behind us, but I am in love with the Models Own Speckled Eggs Nail Polish Collection. The collection includes five pretty, pastel polishes.. each appropriately named after a bird. Naturally I wanted Magpie Green but it’s permanently sold out, so I opted for Duck Blue instead. The polishes are designed to give a speckled egg effect to the nails, as they contain black, matte particles of varying sizes. The Models Own Speckled Eggs Polishes are incredibly similar to the Illamasqua I’mperfection polishes they released last year, however much cheaper at only £5 each, whereas the Illamasqua polishes are £14.50.

Duck Blue looks so cute on the nails, and applies nice and evenly. Unlike glitter polishes, when applying this polish the particles stay put within the polish on the nail, without moving around which I was really impressed with as the particles spread out evenly across the whole nail. It’s such a cute effect on the nails, and whilst it is supposed to be an Easter  collection, I feel like it’s the kind of effect which works all year round, especially for the spring.

I’ve found that it takes just two generous coats for a fully opaque finish, but each coat dries really quickly. I love the speckled egg effect on my nails, although the tip wear was really bad within only hours of application. The tip wear you can see in the photo is only the day after I applied it, which is a little disappointing, however I would still like to try a few of the other shades in the collection regardless. I would just make sure I apply a decent glossy top coat to try and seal in the polish for better longevity.

Models Own Speckled Eggs Collection, £5 each, launched on 8 March 2014, exclusively at Models Own Bottleshops and in Superdrug stores from 12 March.
