When it comes to the new month’s Birchbox, you either love a good spoiler on the contents you could possibly receive or you don’t. Generally speaking I try to avoid all spoiler posts as I love the surprise however when I saw all the buzz around the Birchbox June 2014 box, I just had to see what all the fuss was about. June’s Birchbox is appropriately named; Global Strikers to coincide with the borefest World Cup. Birchbox have taken inspirations from the World Cup, and have chosen a variety of top beauty players from across the world. What I really love about Birchbox is their ability to really pull off a theme.. whilst other beauty boxes (ahem.. Glossybox) fail.
Inside the box there is the usual Birchbox bag but this month it’s a rather fetching green and yellow to match the colours of the Brazilian flag – so cute.
As always, inside the bag is a menu card, which this month has a circular flag next to each product to symbolise its country of origin. Inside my June Birchbox there are five products and a lifestyle extra all for £12.95*…
The first product is one I’ve been wanting to try for some time now, after seeing Sam of Pixiwoo use it as a moisturising base every single time before applying makeup. The Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre
is a cult French Pharmacy gem, which up until recently, was quite hard to get hold of within the UK from what I can understand.
This is a 5ml sample tube (worth £1.33) which gave me 3 applications, but even from the 3 applications, I fell in love with it and I’ve already purchased the full size. The cream has a lovely, silky consistency which melts into the skin – even after one use, I’m impressed. It’s also very gentle as it didn’t sting or irritate my skin when I applied it directly on to my dry patches.
My next product is the Silk + Honey Shea Butter Hair Mask, which is in a small plastic tub without its size mentioned – but I’d hazard a guess that it’s around 50ml. This brand/product is really quite unique as the full size kit (which is £55 – ouch) consists of all the ingredients and tools you’d need to create one 200ml pot of conditioner.
I love using hair masks so I’m always happy to try any new masks, although even if it does blow me away, I can’t say I’ll be parting with £55 for the full size anytime soon.
Next up I got the Caudalie Divine Oil (15ml worth £4.05). I’ve never tried the Caudalie Divine Oil, but I love the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse which is another dry oil so I was excited to receive this in my box. The 15ml size is a great handbag size, and it can be applied to the body, face, hair and nails.
This oil smells really, really lovely and summery and leaves my skin feeling moisturised, with a subtle sheen.. I would definitely purchase the full size.
Inside this cute mint green, Birchbox pillow box there was an adorable 3.75ml nail polish from the OPI Brazil Nail Polish Collection.. the shade is ‘Where did Suzi’s Man-Go’ which is the cutest name – OPI do the best names for their polishes. I am so happy I received this particular shade, as it is definitely my favourite from the OPI Brazil collection.
Where did Suzi’s Man-Go is super pretty, summer appropriate orange creme which is just the most perfect toe nail shade for a summer of sandals. I love OPI mini’s as they have a full size brush which makes application a breeze, and the formula of Where did Suzi’s Man-Go is fantastic with full opacity in two coats.. although the shade is darker on the nails then it is in the bottle.
The last product within the box is the most exciting for me personally.. a Beauty Blender AND Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser
worth £26. I’ve tried so many beauty sponges, but never have I tried the Beauty Blender, so I cannot wait to give it a try.. especially with my NARS Creamy Compact Foundation (reviewed here
Just this item alone is twice the value of the box which is incredible, and I’m so happy about trying the solid cleanser too as I can use it on my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
too. I think this has to be my favourite item in a beauty box EVER
The lifestyle extra for this Birchbox June 2014 box is a sweet green and yellow rubber flip flop keyring which is super bright so it’ll be perfect for helping me find my keys in my bottomless pit of an handbag.
This Birchbox June 2014 box has to be the best box I’ve ever received from Birchbox, and I thought the Harper’s Bazaar box couldn’t be beaten – how wrong was I?! I love everything I received this month, and I’m delighted to be able to finally try the Beauty Blender and see how it compares to the cheaper alternatives.
