Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF20 Review

When it comes to my moisturiser, I like it to have a super nourishing formula for my dry skin and some added SPF and UVA/UVB protection. The recently reformulated Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer fulfills both of those wishes. Described as being an hydrating moisturiser which contains antioxidants and UVA/UVB protection as well as an SPF of 20. Cliniques new moisturiser is available in two variations; (Skin Type 1 & 2) Very Dry to Dry and Dry and also in (Skin Type 3 & 4) Oily and Very Oily. I

like how they have two variations of the same cream, as most skincare products will just market a product for one skin type, whereas Clinique have formulated the product to suit all skin types.

Another advantage for me personally, is that I’d be able to use this moisturiser all year round as it’d suit my skin during the winter months when it’s in the ‘very dry’ category, as well as the ‘dry’ category come the Summer.

I always love the packaging of Clinique’s skincare products, and the Superdefense Daily Defence Moisturizer is no exception. Housed within a translucent, mint green plastic jar with a silver metal lid, it just stands out amongst my other lotions and potions.

Another reason why I enjoy Clinique’s products is that they’re all fragrance free, which is ideal as my skin is really quite sensitive and fragranced skincare products tend to aggravate it slightly. Any face products I’ve tried, which contain an SPF tend to have a suncream scent to them, but this moisturiser doesn’t which I really appreciate.

The cream is incredibly thick, and rich so only a small amount is needed per application. Upon application, the cream just melts into the skin instantly almost like a gel leaving my skin feeling silky, smooth and soft. I was worried the richness of the cream may leave my skin looking a little shiny underneath my makeup, but I needn’t have worried.

After I smoothed the cream all over my face and neck, I leave it to fully absorb for around five minutes before applying my primer and makeup. The Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer is a lovely base for my makeup, and even makes my makeup apply a little better as my skin is so nourished underneath.

It’s such a lovely moisturiser, which provides me with all the skin benefits I need on a daily basis like nourishment, SPF and UVA/UVB protection whilst also providing my skin with age prevention at the same time. It’s an absolute winner, and one I’d wholeheartedly recommend…
