It feels like MAC are rolling out a huge amount of collections this year.. there seems to be a new release every few weeks. Even though there have been many new MAC collections, the first collection this year that I’ve bought from is the MAC Maleficent Collection which launched in May to coincide with the release of the Disney Maleficent film. When MAC announced they were releasing a Maleficent collection, there was a lot of excitement on the product and packaging possibilities.
There were only two products from the whole collection that I wanted; The True Love’s Kiss Lipstick and the Natural Beauty Powder and I was very lucky as my gorgeous friend Laura bought me the MAC Maleficent True Love’s Kiss Lipstick as a present.
The packaging of the Maleficent collection is very boring in my opinion.. especially when you compare it to the amazing packaging of the
Disney Venomous Villains collection from 2010 – It could have been so much more elaborate and special. Both the Beauty Powder and the Lipstick have glossy, black, plastic packaging with an image of black wings behind the Maleficent name.
MAC Maleficent True Love’s Kiss Lipstick Swatches
MAC’s True Love’s Kiss Lipstick has an amplified finish and is described as being a ‘clean bright red’ and contains a very fine ruby shimmer which is barely noticeable when applied to the lips. The lipstick has a gorgeously creamy, opaque formula that lasts for around five hours and even after the five hours, it leaves behind a ‘bitten’ stained effect.
I love MAC’s Amplified lipsticks as they’re so comfortable and moisturising on the lips and True Love’s Kiss is no different.. it’s very forgiving on dry lips and doesn’t bleed or feather either. I absolutely love how glossy True Love’s Kiss is, it almost looks as if I’m wearing a gloss over the top.. it’s just the most beautiful statement red lipstick.
MAC Natural Beauty Powder Swatches
The
MAC Natural Beauty Powder is described as a ‘soft peachy pink’ but it’s actually a very pale almost beige-pink powder. I’ve never owned of the MAC’s Beauty Powder’s before so initially I was unsure on how to use it? However they have a multitude of uses which depend on their particular shade.
Due to how pale ‘natural’ is, I knew it would be perfect for my equally pale skin. It has a very, very subtle shimmer which is visible in the pan but once applied to the skin, it’s completely undetectable. I love to use the Beauty Powder as an all over setting powder with a
Duo-Fiber Brush or has a powder to set my under-eye concealer. The powder has an
amazing brightening effect which looks incredibly natural and makes for the prettiest cheekbone highlight too and I love it.
