Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation in Light Porcelain Review / Swatches

When I saw that Rimmel had introduced their ‘Light Porcelain’ shade to both their Wake Me Up Foundation (reviewed here) and the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation £7.99, I knew I had to snap them up immediately. I really love the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation now they have a shade pale enough, although sometimes it’s just a little bit too ‘glowy’ for my liking.

Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation in Light Porcelain - Review and Swatches

The Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation claims to give a smooth, lightweight coverage that leaves the skin feeling hydrated all day. Rimmel describe the foundation as being transfer, sweat, heat and fade proof and lasts upto 25 hours… Impressive?!

I don’t like how heavily fragranced the foundation is as I can smell it whilst I’m wearing it, so it might not be suitable for those with sensitive skins. When it comes to foundation I like a medium coverage and one which doesn’t cling to or emphasise my dry patches on my cheeks.. and obviously a good shade match. Light Porcelain is the best match I’ve ever found from a drugstore foundation which makes me very happy.

However the Light Porcelain of the Wake Me Up Foundation and the Light Porcelain of the 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation are actually quite different. I don’t know why but this foundation has a strong pink undertone whilst the Wake Me Up Foundation has a strong yellow undertone which is frustrating. This foundation is a better match for me than the Wake Me Up Foundation, but I can still make it work.

This foundation gives medium coverage but when I try to build it up it does look a little cakey so I prefer to use concealer on the areas I need extra coverage rather than building up the foundation. If I apply the foundation with a brush I find that it looks quite patchy on my dry areas, although if I use a beauty blender it looks slightly better but it does still cling to my dry patches unfortunately but I’m yet to find a foundation that doesn’t.

I was hoping that this foundation would have more of a matte finish compared to the Wake Me Up Foundation but it still looks quite shiny on the skin and feels tacky too which I really don’t like.. I hate being able to feel my foundation on my face throughout the day, which I can when I wear this.

It’s just so infuriating as this is the perfect shade for my skintone, but I’m just not a fan of how heavy and suffocating the Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation feels on my skin considering it’s only a medium coverage foundation. The hunt continues for the perfect, pale, medium coverage yet lightweight drugstore foundation.. I’m not even sure it exists anymore.
