Bobbi Brown Sandstone Shimmer Brick Review / Swatches

27th September 2014

Autumn and Winter is an exciting time for beauty obsessives due to the copious amount of new beauty releases for Christmas. When I saw the new Bobbi Brown Smokey Nudes Collection, I instantly fell in love as I’m a massive fan of both smokey eyes and nude lips. The Smokey Nudes Collection includes an Eyeshadow Palette, 4 Creamy Matte Lipsticks and a stunning Shimmer Brick. The product which stole my heart the most from the collection is the Bobbi Brown Sandstone Shimmer Brick £32.50*.

I’ve never tried any of the iconic Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks, but I’ve admired them from afar as I never used to like shimmery face products, however in the last six months or so I’ve developed a serious love for shimmer. The Bobbi Brown Sandstone Shimmer Brick is said to compliment pink, neutral and peach blush shades which is pretty much my whole blush collection. The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks are handmade in Italy and they contain superfine pigments that reflect both light and radiance.

The Bobbi Brown Sandstone Shimmer Brick (and whole Smokey Nudes Collection) is limited edition, and has been packaged in the most incredible compact with a smokey, tortoiseshell, glossy design that just looks absolutely beautiful. Sandstone contains five stunning strips of colour including champagne, gold, bronze, rose gold and dark chocolate tones. The beauty of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks is that the strips can be used individually or altogether on both the face as a blush, bronzer or highlighter or on the eyes as an eyeshadow. When all five strips are swirled together, they create a pretty warm bronze shade.

For my skintone I prefer to use the shades individually.. I love using a fan brush as they’re nice and narrow, so they can fit into each individual strip of colour comfortably, and I find that a fan brush helps to give a lovely diffused glow to my skin. The first champagne shade makes for the perfect highlighter on my cheekbones, browbones or for the inner corner of my eyes.
I think the second and fourth strip are the best shades for my colouring, but I’m enjoying using each of the different shades layered over different blushes for differing effects. My favourite use for Sandstone right now, has to be for eyeshadow as they’re just stunning and beautifully pigmented but I love that this Bobbi Brown Sandstone Shimmer Brick is so versatile and it contains an impressive amount of product of 10 grams.
I really urge you to head to your nearest Bobbi Brown counter so you can see this stunning Shimmer Brick in person, although I’d recommend going very soon as Bobbi Brown’s limited edition releases are always very quick to sell out.
