Real Techniques is one of the best, if not the best makeup brush I’ve tried. Their brushes are of amazing quality, yet they’re all so affordable. My favourite Real Techniques Brush Set is the Sam’s Picks Brush Set so I was very excited when I saw on Instagram that they were releasing a limited edition Real Techniques Nic’s Picks set in time for Christmas.. and I was even more excited to discover that the Nic’s Picks Brush Set has already gone on sale over at Beauty Chamber – they weren’t due to go on sale until the 1st of October so make sure you snap them up whilst you can!

The Real Techniques Nic’s Picks Brush Set £29.99* contains five Real Techniques brushes; three of which are exclusive to this set which is very exciting. Just like all Real Techniques’ brushes, the set is completely cruelty free using Taklon bristles and all five brushes have been hand cut for precision. What makes the Real Techniques Nic’s Picks set so amazing is that the brushes all feature a limited edition design where instead of the usual yellow, pink and purple handles, they all have sparkly silver chrome handles instead which are seriously stunning.
Even though the brushes inside the Nic’s Picks Set have silver handles, I love that they still have the brush’s name written in the colour of the collection they belong so the brushes have purple writing, the base brush has yellow writing and the finish brush has pink writing.
Just like all Real Techniques brushes, the Nic’s Picks set are all very lightweight and have the same great quality and super silky bristles. The silver chrome handles look so much more luxurious amongst my other Real Techniques brushes, and I really love how much they catch the light.
Duo-Fiber Face BrushOh how happy am I to see this beaut of a brush within this collection. The Duo-Fiber Face Brush features within the fabulous Duo-Fiber Collection, and is my absolute favourite powder brush so it’s easy to see why Nic chose to include it within this collection. The bristles are so soft, and the duo-fiber bristles work amazingly at dusting powder over my foundation without leaving my skin looking cakey.Duo-Fiber brushes are a dry skinned girls best friend as they apply powder so lightly that the powder doesn’t cling to any dry patches. I love using this brush for applying powder but it also works well with cream blushes and bronzers as you can use the duo-fiber bristles to stipple and blend the product upon the skin.. it’s a real multi-tasker, and a makeup brush collection essential.
Cheek Brush (Set Exclusive)The Cheek Brush looks so similar to the Expert Face Brush however the bristles are a lot less dense, so they’re much softer and allow for much more movement with application. The tapered, rounded shape of the bristles make it ideal for precise application of powder and cream blushes and bronzer. It also works nicely when teamed with the aforementioned Duo-Fiber Face Brush to apply and then use the Cheek Brush to blend the product into the skin seamlessly. The bristles are so silky that they almost feel like velvet.. I love this brush.
Angled Shadow Brush (Set Exclusive)The brush is said to have been perfectly cut for layering eyeshadow in the crease. The bristles aren’t too dense, so they feel quite fluffy making it ideal for applying a darker shade of shadow to the outer lid and through the crease.I’m not sure the angled shape really makes a difference to application compared to a non-angled fluffy eyeshadow brush, but nonetheless it applies and blends shadow lightly which is perfect for adding definition. The fluffy bristles also apply highlighter under my browbone nicely too, as the application and blending is very subtle due to the duo-fiber bristles.
Base Shadow BrushThis brush originally featured in the Real Techniques Starter Set, and is one of my most used eye brushes within my whole makeup brush collection. I’ve always wished that they’d release this brush individually so I’m very happy to see it featured within this kit. The bristles are shaped into a small dome with flat sides which allow you to pack shadow onto the lid by using the sides of the brush, then you can use the end of the bristles to blend the edges.I also like using this brush to apply my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer under my eyes after watching Nic use it in one of her Pixiwoo tutorials. You could genuinely create a whole eyeshadow look with this one brush, so it’s ideal for travel especially as it’s so compact and lightweight.
Eyeliner Brush (Set Exclusive)I’m an eyeliner fiend so I’m always very appreciative of an eyeliner brush within a brush set. The eyeliner brush inside the Real Techniques Starter Set is very thick and dense thus making eyeliner application very difficult so I was worried that this brush was the same as it looks almost identical, however when you compare them side by side, this eyeliner brush is much, much thinner and smaller. This brush is angled and the bristles have been amazingly cut so they’re really precise which is ideal for eyeliner as I can draw a thin, sharp line with both gel or cream liner. You could also use this brush to line the eyes with shadow, but I prefer to use a pencil brush when smudging shadow along my lashlines. The precise angled point on this brush would also make it ideal for applying powder products through your brows, although I think it might be a little too large for use with a cream product like the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade. So they are the five amazing brushes within the NEW Real Techniques Nic’s Picks Brush Set. I absolutely love all five brushes, and there’s not one ‘dud’ within the set for me. I think £29.99 is fantastic value, with each brush working out at only £5.99 which is incredible. The Real Techniques Nic’s Picks set would be perfect for someone starting out with makeup and makeup brushes all the way through to people with a sizable brush collection. You just can’t beat the quality and value of Real Techniques brushes, and they’re the fastest drying brushes I own which is a massive selling point alone.GIVEAWAY I am very excited because the amazing Beauty Chamber team have very kindly given me another set of the Real Techniques Nic’s Picks brushes to giveaway here on my blog to one lucky reader.
