Essence Soo Blush! and Soo Highlight! Review / Swatches

1st December 2014

Ever since Essence reached UK soils, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying trying their many different products and I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve tried this far, bar their All About Nude Palette. Two of their products I’ve been particularly enjoying, are their Soo Blush! in Sweet as a Peach, and their Soo Highlight! in Bright up your Life which retail for a bargainous £2.80* each. Essence have two shades of blush, and two shades of highlighter in their Essence Soo Blush and Essence ‘Soo Highlight’ ranges, and although I’m not an huge fan of their name.. their formula is really good.

Packaged within small, clear, circular plastic compacts, the blush and highlight have a cream consistency which are described as having a cream to powder formula which I’d have to totally agree with. Both the blush and highlight, glide across the skin when applied with either a brush or fingertips, and lose their creaminess in the pan and become more powdery on contact with the skin.

They’re both very subtle in terms of pigmentation which I personally like for cream products, and they’re flattering on my dry skin too. I wouldn’t describe either the blush or highlighter as being particularly long wearing, but they do last for a good five hours before noticeably fading but considering they’re just £2.80 a piece, it really doesn’t bother me especially as they’re so compact and lightweight – you could easily touch up at your desk within seconds with your fingertips.

I really like both the Essence Soo blush and Soo highlight as they’re just so easy and quick to apply and foolproof at that.. perfect for those who are intimidated by cream blushes or highlighters. I would love to get the other highlighter shade; Look on the Bright Side as it’s a white shade that looks a little more intense than Bright Up Your Life.

Such a cringeworthy cliché but for £2.80, you really can’t go wrong…
