January’s Birchbox last year (here) was particularly great so I was excited to see what was inside this January’s box. The theme for the Birchbox January 2015 box £12.95* is ‘Hit Refresh’, and Birchbox have partnered with Women’s Health to create a box to get you ready for the new year. In addition to a box of treats, there is an amazing offer where you can subscribe to Women’s Health Magazine for 10 issues for just £18 saving 52% which is perfect if you’re planning on improving your health and fitness during 2015.
There is also a ‘Hit Refresh’ booklet which contains 12 bite-sized challenges/tips, with a hole allowing you to hang it up with perforated pages allowing you to pull out pages after completing them, which is a cute addition.
The first item in the Birchbox January 2015 box is a full size Stila Lip Glaze worth £15, in the shade Gleam which is a stunning sheer shimmery pink. I really love Stila Lip Glazes, as they’re non-sticky glosses with impressive lasting power so I was really happy to see one feature in the box, especially such a wearable, suit-all shade.
The next item is a 20ml sample of the Philip Kingsley Body Building Conditioner worth £1.52. In last January’s box we got a sample of the Philip Kingsley Moisture Balancing Conditioner, so it’s nice that Birchbox have included such a big brand once again.
This conditioner claims to transform lifeless locks and help seal flyaways due to the lustrous, wheat-protein conditioner. I can’t wait to try this, as it sounds like it’d be great for adding volume and shine.
I was so excited when I saw this 10ml sample of the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask worth £6, as I’ve been dying to try it for such a long time. This mask is supposedly a fast-working, exfoliating treatment which improves texture and tone as well as combating congestion.
I’m not sure how far this 10ml tube will go, but hopefully I’ll be able to get a couple of uses out of it so I can see if I want to purchase the full size.
The next product is a teeny 5ml tube of HealGel Intensive worth £3.75. I’ve tried both HealGel Eye, and HealGel Face and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them both so I have high hopes for the Intensive version. You only need the smallest amount, so I think this tube will last for a fair few uses.
Next up is a product I don’t really have any use for sadly; a 20ml tube of ActivBod Cooling Finish Lotion worth £2.40 which is a re-energising gel to be used after a workout, to energise, moisturise and sooth.
I’m not exactly good when it comes to exercise, but my other half is a running obsessive so I imagine he’ll enjoy using this post-running session. Even though this isn’t a product I would use, I like how it ties in with the theme of this month’s box.
The last product inside my box is a single sachet of Embrace Matcha Green Tea worth 99 pence. Now call me strange but I don’t drink any tea or coffee as I literally hate the stuff so unfortunately this isn’t something I’d use, but I know green tea is quite popular so I imagine a few people being happy to see this within their box this month.
In true Birchbox form, there’s also an added Lifestyle extra which I did think was the Green Tea sachet but in fact there was another one lurking in the bottom of my box.. a Birchbox and Women’s Health Resistance Band, which is supposedly worth £7.99. The band can be used to increase tone, strength and muscle endurance and again fits this month’s theme perfectly.
So overall, I really like the Birchbox January 2015 box and I think Birchbox have delivered the theme very well. My favourite items would have to be the Stila Lip Glaze and REN Mask, but the box is worth around £37.65 which is pretty great value for just £12.95.
Did you get anything different in your box, this month?
