Illamasqua do such amazing sales that I wish other high-end brands would follow suit. Whenever Illamasqua have a sale, I find it very difficult to resist adding another product or two to my collection and their January sale was no different when I saw the Illamasqua Embellish Eye Trio with 50% off making it just £24.50 instead of £49. I’ve been eyeing up the Illamasqua Embellish Eye Trio ever since it launched as part of their Facets collection back in October so I couldn’t believe they included it in their sale.

The Embellish Eye Trio is an absolutely beautiful rose gold gift box, containing three of Illamasqua’s best-selling eye products; their Precision Brow Gel in Strike, Vintage Metallix in Embellish, and Precision Gel Liner in Infinity, with each glass jar having a stunning rose gold metallic lid.
The set is just gorgeous, and I really didn’t expect it to be so well presented.. it looks and feels so luxurious, and I am so happy I bought it for just £24.50. The Precision Gel Liner and Brow Gel are £18.50 each, and the Vintage Metallix are £16.50 each so with a combined value of £53.50, I really did get a bargain and it’s still available here at this price as I write this.
The Precision Brow Gel is described as a colour rich brow gel which allows you to create perfectly defined brows with intense colour pay-off. Brow Gels like this one are so popular right now with the likes of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This is the only shade available of the Brow Gel which I think is really strange as it’s definitely not a suit-all kind of shade.
‘Strike’ is described by Illamasqua as being ‘brown’ which isn’t particularly helpful, but it’s quite a warm shade of brown. My brows are very dark brown.. almost black, so I have to apply Strike with a super fine eyeliner type brush to draw small, strokes throughout my brows which is quite time consuming, but the finish is very natural so it’s worth it.
Once applied to the brows, it literally doesn’t budge which is fantastic for a frequent face toucher like myself as it doesn’t smudge or fade throughout the day. It’s so longlasting, that I have to really rub a Bioderma soaked cotton pad over my brows several times to remove it. I think it’s absolute madness that a brand like Illamasqua who have such a diverse range of shades in every other product line, have just one shade of brow gel but fingers crossed they release more shades soon as I’d love a dark brown shade.
The Vintage Metallix are one of Illamasqua’s more recent releases, and are metallic cream eyeshadows with a gel-like consistency offering longwear and comfort. They claim to be smudge resistant and long lasting, and Embellish is one of three shades available.
Embellish is such a beautiful, rich chocolate brown with tiny gold shimmer particles and it actually reminds me of MAC’s Paint Pot in Eclair if it didn’t have the shimmer. The consistency is really lovely and creamy, and it takes seconds to apply with a fingertip and then I use a blending brush to soften the edges.
The jar looks quite small, so initially I thought it was poor value compared to the MAC Paint Pots, but believe it or not you actually get the exact same amount in both so appearances can be deceiving. I definitely need to get my hands on the shade ‘Courtier’ next, which is a pretty nude, as I love the formula of Embellish so much.
Lastly within the Illamasqua Embellish Eye Trio, The Precision Gel Liner is a product I’ve been wanting to try for some time now. It’s said to recreate the fluidity of a liquid liner with the ease of a gel, to create a smooth, rich black line with a long lasting and water-resistant formula.
This liner is so unbelievably creamy and pigmented.. you only need the smallest amount. I’ve tried a few different types of eyeliner brushes to apply this gel liner, and I’ve found that the best one by far is the Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush as it’s very precise, and flexible so it glides across the eyelid quickly and smoothly without any skipping.
