My Top 14 Beauty Products of 2014

1st January 2015

I never do monthly favourites here on my blog, but I did a 2013 favourites last year and I loved it so I decided I needed to a Top 14 Beauty Products for this year although last year I chose my top 5 and this year I have 14; it’s definitely been the year of amazing new beauty discoveries. Believe it or not, it was really hard to whittle my favourites down to 14 – I could have very easily done a top 20, but alas here are my absolute favourite My Top 14 Beauty Products of 2014….

My Top 14 Beauty Products of 2014My Top 14 Beauty Products of 2014

Brow ProductBenefit Gimme Brow (review)
This is possibly my number one favourite from the year as I absolutely love it. I have the shade Medium/Deep which is the most perfect match for my brows as it’s not too warm toned like a lot of dark brow products tend to be. It’s so quick to use, taking a matter of seconds and it lasts so well throughout the day. I have lost count how many times I’ve recommend Gimme Brow to people, and everyone that’s bought it after my recommendation have loved it which just speaks volumes about how good it really is – love love love.

FragranceNarciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette
I actually discovered this perfume in back in 2012, but it’s definitely been my most worn favourite fragrance of the year and maybe all time. It’s such a gorgeous, warm and sensuous scent with notes of vanilla, amber, vetiver and musk. There’s not a lot more I can say about this gorgeous perfume, apart from telling you to try it next time you’re in a perfume store.

Skincare ProductNip & Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Pads (review)
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen me rave about these exfoliating pads many times as they’re my favourite skincare discovery of the year. They have made such a difference to my skin in terms of texture, with my dry patches being a lot less noticeable and I’ve definitely experienced less breakouts since introducing them into my skincare regime. I have repurchased these pads three times now and I’ll carry on repurchasing them as they’ve transformed my skin.

Multi-use ProductBecca Shimmering Skin Perfector – Pearl (review)
Now this is a product I’ve only had for around six weeks, but it’s already made its way into my top 14. I got the Becca Spotlights Giftset which had three small tubes of the Shimmering Skin Perfectors, and one shade in particular; Pearl, has wowed me.

It’s such a stunning, icy white highlight which is just so versatile and easy to use, giving a gorgeous glow to the skin without any glitter or large shimmer particles. After loving this gift set so much, I now want to try more Becca products.. especially the pressed versions of the Shimmering Skin Perfectors.

LipbalmNuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm
This is my favourite lipbalm of 2014, and again possibly all time as it’s the best lipbalm I’ve ever tried, and is definitely worth the hype. It’s a super nourishing lip balm which leaves my lips soft, moisturised and plump. I love how intensive it is, as I can apply it to really sore chapped lips and within a couple of hours, it’s worked its magic on them. I’m not going to lie, I also love that it smells of chocolate orange too.

LipstickCharlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick – Bitch Perfect (review)
I was a very lucky girl as I was very kindly sent Bitch Perfect as a present by the very lovely Tasha (TashaMeline) as she knew I’d been lusting after it for a long time. My review of this beautiful lipstick will be going live in January so stay tuned, but you can probably guess that I adore it seeing as its made its way into my favourite products of 2014.

Bitch Perfect is the most perfect nude shade for my skintone, and the formula is just so creamy and lovely, and Tasha has definitely made me *need* to try more Charlotte Tilbury gems.

Nail ProductOPI Peelable Glitter Base Coat
This is another product that I’m yet to feature here on my blog, but it’s seriously good. My inner magpie loves glitter, but I hardly ever wear glitter nail polish as I hate how laborious the removal process is.. well that was until I bought this base coat.

You simply apply a very thin coat and allow it to dry, and then proceed to apply your glitter polish of choice as normal and then when it comes to removing the polish it takes a matter of seconds per nail as it peels off in one go without staining my nails.

I know it’d be cheaper to buy PVA glue, but I haven’t got the time nor inclination to sit there painting glue all over my fingers.. this is so much easier, and completely hassle free and I’ve been loving wearing pretty glitter polishes again.

PrimerNo7 Brilliantly Bare Beauty Enhancer Primer (review)
It was a really tough call for my favourite primer of year between illamasqua Hydraveil and the No7 Brilliantly Bare Beauty Enhancer but the No7 primer pipped Illamasqua to the post as it’s a lot more purse friendly at £12.50 rather than £30 and it’s actually an amazing dupe for the Benefit POREfessional primer.

This is a lovely primer which smoothes my skin, and leaves it looking so even, as well as making my foundation look a lot more flawless. I’ve never seen anyone else rave about this primer which I don’t understand as it’s very good.

FoundationRimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation (review)
This is my favourite foundation and I can’t recommend it enough. It has light to medium buildable coverage that sits nicely on top of my dry skin without highlighting my dry patches.

It doesn’t feel too heavy like the original 25 Hour Lasting Finish Foundation, and it lasts for around six hours before touchups are needed. Light Porcelain is such a great shade for those with super pale skin like mine, and it has a slightly dewy finish which can be made matte with a little loose powder.

Single Eyeshadow – Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadow – Rosewood (review)
I love all six shades from the Clarins Ombre Matte Eyeshadow range, but Rosewood has to me my favourite as it’s a pretty, rich reddy brown shade which I think works really well against my green eyes. They have a great, smooth and creamy formula that blends easily and I particularly love wearing Rosewood as a crease shade with a paler skintone shade all over the lid.

Eyeshadow Palette – Lorac Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette
This is another product which I’ll be reviewing in January but had to include it in my Top 14 Beauty Products of 2014. I was very kindly gifted this beautiful palette by the gorgeous Stacey (Expat Makeup Addict) early this year, and I can’t describe how happy and grateful I was as I’d been lusting after it for such a long time, but seeing as it’s US exclusive product, I couldn’t get my hands on it.

I have the original Lorac Pro Palette which is one of my favourites, but the Lorac Pro 2 is definitely my favourite with its stunning cooler toned shades. My particular favourites are Charcoal, Cool Gray, Chrome and Jade but there isn’t one shade I don’t like. I am so happy that I have this palette in my life, and I cannot thank Stacey enough.

Blusher – Benefit Majorette Booster Blush (review)
Choosing my favourite blush of the year was quite tough as I’ve had a few favourites but my most-worn is definitely this one. It’s such a pretty, soft coral that can be worn alone or as a base for other blushes but I prefer to wear it on its own. It’s such a quick, fuss-free blush that you can apply with a brush or your fingertips and it makes my skin look so healthy.

HighlighterMakeup Revolution Goddess of Love Highlighter (review)
This is such a beautiful baked highlighter, and my favourite Makeup Revolution product. It’s really soft and finely milled so it looks stunning on the skin. It’s just so silky, and I even prefer it over my previous holy grail highlighter; MAC Lightscapade. I could go on and on about my love for this highlighter, but if you haven’t tried it – you need to.

Face MaskGLAMGLOW Supermud Clearing Treatment (review)
Now onto my last Top 14 Beauty Products. 2014 was the year that I discovered and fell head over heels for GLAMGLOW after trying two of their masks; Youthmud and Supermud. My favourite has to be the Supermud as it’s literally a miracle worker at removing blackheads from the skin.. it pulls out the grime from congested pores (gross but true), to leave them instantly looking clearer and a lot less noticeable. It’s quite pricey, but in my opinion it’s completely worth it as nothing is as effective and amazing as GLAMGLOW.
