NARS Virtual Domination Palette Review / Swatches

The saying ‘Nothing haunts us like the things we didn’t buy’ is so very true as I’d been kicking myself for not snapping up the NARS Virtual Domination Palette back in November as I naively didn’t think it would sell out as quickly as it did, and I was truly gutted to have missed it.

However a couple of weeks ago, I was browsing the SpaceNK website and I spotted it back in stock, so I ordered and checked out in what must have been less than a minute as I was determined not to miss out again.. and it was finally mine. Now it seems the NARS Virtual Domination Palette has sold out again on SpaceNK, but the NARS website now have it back in stock, so if you want it, I’d recommend ordering it asap before it disappears forever…

The NARS Virtual Domination Palette is £45, and contains one powder highlighter (Miss Liberty), three powder blushes (Deep Throat, Sex Fantasy and Final Cut) and one powder bronzer (Laguna). The value of this palette is amazing as the Laguna alone is a massive 10 grams and the Laguna bronzer to buy individually is only 8 grams and costs £27 so to get three blushes and an highlighter for just £18 is incredible.

The blushes/highlighter are 4.5 grams each within the palette, and to buy individually they contain 4.8 grams so they’re only very marginally smaller inside this palette. Not to mention that out of the three blush shades, two of them are limited edition shades which you can’t actually purchase anymore; Final Cut and Sex Fantasy.

The palette is beautiful and very well made with solid plastic, and a laser design on the front which I really like as it’s not made from the infamous rubberised packaging that gets messy very quickly, so this looks a little sleeker and there’s a mirror within the lid making this palette exceptionally travel friendly.

The blushes within this palette are of great quality, but they’re not the same very high standard as their individual blushes; these blushes are very powdery and are slightly less pigmented. I personally don’t mind that the pigmentation is weaker as I much prefer being able to build up my blush intensity gradually, and the shades are all very pretty.

Laguna is too dark for me as a bronzer, but I did already know that before buying this palette but I love to use Laguna as my crease/transition shade whenever I do my eye makeup, so all is not lost but it’s much too muddy for my super pale skintone. I am so glad I finally managed to snap up this palette as I absolutely love it, and I will definitely have to be quicker off the mark with NARS’ new releases in the future so I don’t miss out again.
