Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush Review

8th March 2015

There are so many different cleansing brushes on the market, and I have tried a fair few myself including the Magnitone Pulsar which are effective but I’ve never felt completely comfortable about using them. Cleansing devices with brush heads are extremely unhygienic, and are a breeding ground for germs and bacteria which is pretty disgusting to say the least, and of course you can clean them after every use but you can’t get rid of residual bacteria completely which is particularly bad if you suffer from frequent breakouts like myself. The Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush is totally unique to other cleansing devices as it’s brushless, so it’s completely hygienic and not to mention better value as there are no replacement brush heads to purchase.

The Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush is also unique because not only is it a cleansing device, but it’s also an anti-aging device too. The device has three touch points; an on/off switch, and two intensity buttons to control the level of pulsations. The back of the device has the charging point, and the base of the Luna is flat so it sits nicely without the need for a stand.

There are three different Foreo Lunas; each for different skin types and each retails for £145. I have the white device which is the Ultra-Sensitive Luna, which is ideal for my problematic skin. Alongside the Foreo Luna, inside the box there is the charger, a drawstring carry pouch, instruction guides and an authenticity card to validate the 2 year warranty and 10 year quality guarantee.

The Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush claims that by using the device for just two minutes morning and night, it will leave the skin looking naturally beautiful with an healthy glow, while lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. To use the Luna, you simply apply your cleanser to your face and then wet the Luna and turn it on, and after thoroughly cleansing the face, you turn the device over and apply the reverse side to wrinkle prone areas in the second lower-frequency anti aging mode.

The specifications of the Foreo Luna are impressive; it’s completely waterproof for a start, so it can be used in the shower or bath which is really convenient. The device has upto 8,000 pulsations per minute which are channeled through the soft silicone touch points which work to gently remove dead skin cells, as well as unclogging the pores of 99.5% of dirt and oil, and 98.5% of makeup residue. The silicone ridges are non-abrasive, and non-porous to resist any bacteria build-up making it upto 35 times more hygienic than standard cleansing brushes; which is incredible.

The anti-aging mode has lower frequency pulsations which are directed through the concentric silicone waves onto the wrinkle-prone areas to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The Foreo Luna’s battery is amazing as one full charge will last upto 450 uses, and there are no replacement brushes to buy so there are no extra fees once you’ve purchased the device.

I like to use a cream cleanser with the Luna, as I’ve found them to be the most effective. Once I’ve massaged cleanser into my skin, I use the cleansing side of the device on my chin to begin with, with upward strokes and the device pulsates after every 15 seconds to remind you to move to the next part of your face.

This is one of my favourite features, as it means I don’t skimp on my cleansing time or spend more on one place than any other; it means my whole face is thoroughly cleansed. Foreo recommend changing the intensity of the pulsations for different parts of your face, for example, using a lower intensity around your eyes. After one minute, the Luna pulsates three times to remind you to put the device on standby, whilst you rinse the cleanser away; the base of the Luna glows lilac whilst on standby.

After rinsing my face, I then begin the anti-aging programme where the Luna will pulsate after each 12 second interval to encourage you to move to the next zone. The areas are; between the eyebrows, right temple, right nasolabial fold (laughter line areas), left nasolabial fold and left temple. After one minute has passed, the device will pulsate three times and switch off. You don’t have to use the anti-aging mode with each use, but it’s recommended to get the optimum benefit from the Luna.

I am totally smitten with the Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush, and I will never use a cleansing brush again. I love how hygienic, and fuss-free the Luna is and that the battery holds enough charge for upto 450 uses, so when travelling you’d never need to pack a charger if you charged it before leaving.

It’s so quick and easy to use, and the pulsating reminders are amazing as I often drift off into a daydream land when cleansing my face. I really like how gentle yet effective the Foreo Luna Facial Cleansing Brush is, and as it’s actually massaging the skin through its pulsations, it helps with drainage too so it really does have a multitude of benefits and in my opinion, it’s the best facial cleansing device on the market..
