The Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo’s are one of my favourite eye products of all time, so I was excited when I read that Maybelline were creating a range of ‘Leather Effect’ Color Tattoos. Like most drugstore makeup launches, they took quite a while to come across to the UK but as soon as I saw them available on the Superdrug website, I snapped up three of shades on offer.. one of which is Maybelline Chocolate Suede.

Just like the original line of Color Tattoo’s, the new Leather Effect shades are just £4.99 each and have exactly the same glass jar packaging with a black screw top lid. I love the Color Tattoo’s as they’re so quick and easy to apply but they last all day on the lids, and I never experience creasing or fading and they work well when worn alone, or layered with powder shadows too.

The range of Leather Effect Color Tattoo’s are all matte, except for Chocolate Suede. Chocolate Suede is a really gorgeous, rich and intense warm chocolate brown with a subtle golden and purple shimmer. In the jar, Maybelline Chocolate Suede looks very shimmery but once applied to the lid with either a brush or fingertip, the shimmer translates as more of a subtle sheen.
The formula of Chocolate Suede is just like the main line of Color Tattoo’s, in that it’s creamy, smooth and so easy to apply and blend. I like wearing Chocolate Suede on it’s own, or as a base for eyeshadow but either way it stays put all day long without any creasing, flaking or fading and I never have to use an eyeshadow primer underneath. Until now, On and On Bronze was my favourite Color Tattoo shade but Maybelline Chocolate Suede has definitely become my new favourite as it’s such a pretty yet unique multi-dimensional shade.
