The OCC Lip Tars are an iconic lip product, and for good reason.. they’re insanely pigmented, liquid lipsticks with serious staying power and I love the two shades I already own; Hush and Lament. The OCC Lip Tars are £12 each, and they contain 12ml of product however as you only need the smallest drop per application, it would genuinely take a lifetime to use a whole tube up. The OCC Pro’s Picks Portable Lip Tar Test Tube Set is the most amazing concept, as it contains twelve 2.5ml ‘Test Tubes’ for only £43 which is amazing value, and available to purchase from Love-Makeup. All of the twelve shades within this set, were handpicked from the entire OCC Lip Tar range, by the OCC Pro Makeup Artists so you know you’re getting the best..

This set is perfect for everyone; those who have never tried the OCC Lip Tars, those who want to add new shades to their existing collection or for makeup artists. The set includes a great range of shades, in two finishes; matte and metallic. The OCC Pro’s Picks Portable Lip Tar Test Tube Set also contains a full size OCC #010 Precision Lip Brush which is £14.99 to buy individually. The Test Tube Set is packaged within a clear, plastic case which contains little pockets to hold the tubes and brush.
Each of the Test Tubes are plastic, squeezy tubes with a narrow nozzle which helps to control how much Lip Tar is dispensed. To use the OCC Lip Tars, I like to dispense a tiny amount (half a pin-head size amount) directly onto the brush before applying to my lips and then add more Lip Tar if needed.. if you go in with too much straight away, it becomes very messy indeed due to their runny consistency.
All of the OCC Lip Tars have a tendency to bleed, due to how intensely pigmented they are and their consistency. OCC recommend using the Lip Tar Primer which you can purchase separately to prep the lips and prevent any bleeding and feathering. However I don’t have the Lip Tar Primer, so I love using the
Rimmel Moisture Renew Clear Liner as it keeps any lip colour in place all day long and it’s only £3.99.
OCC Pro’s Picks Portable Lip Tar Test Tube Set Review and Swatches
Interlace (palest peach creme – matte)
Zhora (peach with pink shimmer – metallic)
Annika (pale neutral peach – matte)
Cha Cha (pale tangerine – matte)
Grandma (clean classic coral – matte)
Vintage (deep burgundy – matte)
Harlot (neon popsicle red – matte)
Nylon (neon bubblegum pink – matte)
Hoochie (vibrant magenta – matte)
Digitalis (pink-tinged lavender – matte)
Sebastian (plum-toned taupe – matte)
Lovecraft (pink with lilac shimmer – metallic)
How incredible are all of these shades?! The colour intensity and pigmentation for every shade is fantastic, and there isn’t one disappointing shade in the whole set. They all apply so smoothly, and the brush is brilliant for precision with its rounded tip and flat bristles.
Some shades are more prone to bleeding than others like Sebastian, Hoochie, Vintage and Grandma but a clear lipliner stops any bleeding in its tracks. I find the weartime to be around 6 hours depending on the shade, but I’ve found that Vintage, Harlot, Nylon and Hoochie to really stain the lips so they last a lot longer at 8-9 hours.
What makes the OCC Pro’s Picks Portable Lip Tar Test Tube Set so unique, is that you can actually blend them together to create custom shades and I have the OCC Lip Tar Mixing Palette which makes it so easy to mix the shades. I think the range of shades within this set is just perfect.. nudes, brights and neons and I love the on-trend taupe hue of Sebastian.
I think £43 is great value for this set, and you could even split the shades up to give away as gifts for Birthdays and Christmas if you wanted to. This limited edition OCC Pro’s Picks Portable Lip Tar Test Tube Set really is any lip lovers dream…
