La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Nutritive Oil SPF 50+

30th April 2015

La Roche-Posay is one of my favourite skincare brands, so I’ve been wanting to try some of their sun protection products. After doing some research online, I decided that the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Nutritive Oil £12 sounded absolutely perfect for my skin tone and skin type. I have already reviewed the Riemann P20 Sun Protection here on my blog which I love, but I wanted a more nourishing formula for the days where my skin is feeling particularly dry.

The La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Nutritive Oil £18 has an SPF of 50+ and is described as being a lightweight, nourishing oil for both the face and body. What really appealed to me is that La Roche-Posay claim that the Nutritive Oil has a non-sticky consistency with an invisible satin finish, as I hate sticky or greasy sun protection as it feels so suffocating on the skin.

The bottle has a pump which I love as it makes application fuss-free and I like to use roughly three pumps of oil per limb. The oil really is very lightweight and runny which I hope you can see in the photo above, and it absorbs into the skin extremely quickly; much quicker than sun lotions or creams. After I’ve massaged the oil into my skin, it does leave a subtle sheen to the skin which I really like but Rob, my other half didn’t like how ‘shiny’ (his words) it made his skin.

The smell of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Nutritive Oil is just heavenly and it took a good few uses before I realised what the smell reminded me of.. Hot Cross Buns – it really does smell of hot cross buns, with a slightly spicy citrus scent it really does smell divine and not at all sun protection like which is a massive winner.

When I massage the oil into my skin, my skin and hands are not at all greasy as it has a dry oil consistency so there’s no residue left on my hands whatsoever, which is something I was initially worried about seeing as it’s an oil. The oil keeps my very pale skin adequately protected as well as nourished, and I’m just so impressed and I’m now looking forward to trying one of the La Roche-Posay facial SPF’s.
