I’ve been trying to hunt down the stunning Tarte Tartelette Palette for a couple of months now, but it’s always out of stock on the Sephora website and it can’t be bought from any UK retailers which is proving to be very frustrating. The Tartelette Palette is an all matte palette, and the shades are truly beautiful but I decided as I couldn’t get my hands on the palette, I’d look at other matte palette alternatives and I decided upon the Stila In The Know Eyeshadow Palette £25. I already own the Stila In The Light Palette and In The Garden Palette, and I love them so I knew I loved the eyeshadow formula enough to try their all matte palette instead.
Packaging wise, it’s pretty basic.. a slightly metallic blue, cardboard palette with a magnetic closure. The palette has just been revamped just slightly since I bought mine, and now features a mirror within the lid which is great as I hate that there’s no mirror inside the palette.
The In The Know Palette contains ten matte eyeshadows, as well as a full size Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliner in the shade Halfmoon which would retail for £13 when bought individually so to get it included in addition to the ten eyeshadows for £25 is fantastic value.
I own perhaps seven or eight of the Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliners now, and they really are amazing. They’re all so seriously creamy and soft, and they glide across the lid or waterline effortlessly without any tugging or excessive pressure and they pack longevity too as they stay in place for a good five hours within my waterline.
Halfmoon is a matte charcoal grey shade which I think really compliments the shades within this palette, and I like that it’s a little less dramatic than a typical black liner. Halfmoon is exclusive to this palette, and cannot be purchased separately.
Wind: Soft peach.
Desert: Soft tan with warm undertones.
Clay: Warm light brown.
Earth: Deep chocolate brown.
Driftwood: Mid tone brown.
Smoke: Charcoal grey.
All ten shades within the Stila In The Know Eyeshadow Palette are incredibly pigmented; as always my swatches are done without a primer. I always find that makeup brands struggle with creating matte formulas, except Neve Cosmetics and Stila.. their mattes are just as pigmented and smooth as their shimmer shadows.
I love that this palette is mainly cool toned as I really like how they look against my cool skintone. My favourite shade within the Stila In The Know Eyeshadow Palette would have to be Rain or Fire. Rain is the perfect crease shade for practically any makeup look, and Fire is just so different to any other shades I own, and I think it really compliments my green eyes.
I am so happy with this palette
as the shades are beautiful, and even though Air and Wind look very pale, they make for perfect lid, blending or highlighting shades and I like that you can make endless eye makeup looks with these ten shades, without needing to use other palettes or shades.
