I am a massive fan of the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner, but seeing as it’s quite gentle, I wanted something similar that was a little stronger for the days where my skin needs a little more exfoliation. I decided to buy the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 which is designed for those with dry combination skin, which suits me quite well as I have dry skin but suffer with frequent hormonal breakouts too.
The Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 is available in two sizes; 200ml and 400ml, and are amazing value especially when you compare it to the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner which is £22 and contains just 125ml.
The Clarifying Lotion 2 has quite a strong chemical-like scent, and to use it I apply it to a cotton pad and smooth it all over my face after cleansing and before I apply my moisturiser and serum.
Once I’ve used the lotion, it does leave my skin tingling slightly, and any dry patches do sting, but the stinging stops as soon as I apply my moisturiser. The exfoliation the Clarifying Lotion 2 gives me skin is seriously incredible.. I was wowed from my very first use. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and clear, and dry patches are dramatically diminished which is beyond amazing.
I do think the formula is a touch too harsh for me to use every single day as it is very sensitive, so I use the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner both day and night, and then I use the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 every other day in the evening. I have noticed that my foundation has been looking so much nicer for using the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2, as it keeps my dry patches minimised so it doesn’t cling as much as it does.
I’ve only used a quarter of this bottle so far, and I have already purchased the 400ml size which goes to show how incredibly impressed I am; it’s one of the best skincare products I’ve ever found for my dry skin, and I’m just delighted to have found something that makes such a difference to the appearance and texture of my skin without leaving my skin feeling stripped and uncomfortable.
