If you read my review of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Nutritive Oil, you’ll know how impressed I was and that I was looking forward to trying one of their facial sun creams. I opted for the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Cream SPF50+ £15.50 as it looked like the best option for my dry, sensitive and pale skin. The La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Cream has a gentle and effective formulation which ensures a very high, broad, and photostable UVA/UVB protection with an optimal SPF of 50+.
The Comfort Cream contains a new filter system which comprises of a combination of Mexoryl® SX and XL alongside Senna Alata extract which naturally protect the skin’s cells from damage. After reading the glowing reviews on Escentual, I was excited to try it out myself as I wanted a lightweight facial SPF which I could wear under my makeup without it leaving my skin looking chalky or greasy.
The La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Cream is very rich and you really don’t need a lot of product; perhaps a five pence piece amount for my face, neck and ears.
The cream melts into the skin quickly but it does leave quite a considerable glow to the skin initially, however I’ve found that if I leave it to fully dry for 5-10 minutes, the shine does decrease; but not completely, so I wouldn’t recommend it for those with oilier skin.
After ten minutes, I go ahead and apply my primer and makeup and I don’t notice any difference or issues with the Comfort Cream underneath. I do like the glow the cream gives to my skin, so it would be nice for no makeup days and it just makes my skin look radiant which is always a good thing especially when you have dull, dry skin like myself.
In terms of sun protection, I’ve not had any sunburn issues whilst wearing the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Cream which I’m very pleased about. It’s absolutely perfect for my sensitive skin especially as it doesn’t have a noticeable scent, and I’ve not experienced any breakouts since introducing it into my skincare regime.
Overall I really am impressed with this facial SPF but it’s really important to use a small amount or it can cause some slipping issues with my foundations, but when used sparingly, it ticks all of the boxes.
