La Roche-Posay Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel

La Roche-Posay are one of my favourite skincare brands, so I was excited to try the new La Roche-Posay Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel 195ml £12. The La Roche-Posay Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel is a gentle cleansing gel which contains hydrating and soothing active ingredients as well as La Roche-Posay’s Thermal Spring Water.

The gel doesn’t contain any alcohol, soap, colorants or parabens and is said to be suitable for normal to combination skin, as well as sensitive skin. The directions on the bottle are pretty rubbish in all honesty; “apply to wet face – no rinsing”.. so the instructions would suggest applying the gel to your face to remove your makeup, without rinsing but you’d be left with the melted makeup all over your face.

Through trial and error, I’ve found that the best way to use the Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel is to massage it onto dry skin to dissolve my makeup and then remove the gel with a cotton pad and follow with a wet muslin cloth to ensure all of the makeup and gel has been removed.

I find that I do have to use at least four or five pumps of the gel to remove my face and eye makeup, which is quite a lot and I don’t wear masses of makeup on a daily basis. The gel does breakdown my makeup, but it’s not as quick as a Micellar Water or the Vichy Micellar Oil and it’s definitely a first cleanse kind of cleanser, as it does leave a little tackiness on the skin.

I think the Micellar Water Gel is perfect for the days where I’m wearing light makeup, but with my dry skin, I much prefer the cleansing action of the Vichy Micellar Oil as I find it to be more effective and it’s more nourishing. I think this gel would be much better suited for those with oilier skins, and I think the Vichy Micellar Oil is better for those with dry skin.
