Birchbox June 2015 Contents and First Impressions
I really cannot believe that we’re in June.. how on earth are we nearly half way through 2015? This year really has flown by. It’s one of my favourite times of the month; Birchbox time! The Birchbox June Box is my absolute favourite design wise, and Birchbox have collaborated with French Sole for this box. The box features the most stunning watercolour poppy design, but the designs do differ from box to box so you could get a completely different one to mine, which I love.
I will definitely be reusing this box for makeup storage as it’s just too pretty to waste. Birchbox is a monthly beauty box subscription which costs £12.95 a month and contains a minimum of five products every month..
Firstly I got a 100ml bottle of the Cowshed Knackered Cow Relaxing Body Lotion worth £6, which contains a herbaceous blend of essential oils – lavender to restore harmony and eucalyptus to ease tired muscles, ideal for helping you slow down and unwind.
The lotion is said to be enriched with naturally moisturising cocoa butter and vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from signs of premature ageing caused by free radicals. It smells really lovely thanks to the lavender, and will be perfect to apply just before bed for its relaxing properties.
The next item is a small sample of the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave In Conditioner, which strangely doesn’t have a volume on the bottle but I imagine it’s a 25ml sample.
I’ve had a few Beauty Protector products in past boxes and I’ve always been impressed with what I’ve tried. I love using leave in conditioners so I’m particularly looking forward to trying this one out, especially as it smells absolutely amazing.
Next is a tiny Penhaligon’s Iris Prima Eau de Parfum sample. If you read my blog regularly, you’ll know how much I hate receiving perfume samples inside beauty boxes like Birchbox and Glossybox. You can walk into any department store and get them for free, so I don’t think it’s fair that they’re included in beauty boxes in the place of a real product but that’s just my opinion..
The next product is the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm worth £8 which I’m surprised they included to be honest as they already included it within the October Birchbox and I really don’t like repeats.
Pixi describe the Shea Butter Lip Balm as being super nourishing with a rich yet lightweight formula as well as a tint and contains vitamins to protect the lips and shea butter to nourish. I had this exact shade in my October Box so I’ll give this one away to someone as it takes me a lifetime to finish a lipbalm, but as far as lipbalms go.. these are really lovely, and they leave my lips feeling so smooth and supple.
I was excited to see a 10ml tube of the REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot worth £12 within the box as it’s quite a new product and one I’ve never tried.
It’s a gel-serum that promises to instantly firm, lift and plump the skin to leave it looking dramatically tighter, smoother and more youthful. It sounds like quite the wonder product so I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl as the reviews I’ve read have all been very positive.
The last product inside the box is a packet of the STYL London Temporary Tattoos worth £3.99. I know that these metallic tattoo’s are super popular now but they’re just not me.
I know I sound like such a granny but I’m 27 (28 in a matter of weeks) and I just can’t pull them off.. maybe if I was 18 then I’d definitely love them, but I did the whole temporary tattoo thing when I was 7 or 8. I think these will be a popular item from the box though, as not everyone is as boring as me..
Alongside the products, Birchbox also included an extra to tie in with their French Sole collaboration.. a drawstring shoe bag in a print to match the box. I love mine so much, the print is so beautiful. I have really big feet (wow boring with big feet.. really selling myself today aren’t I?) so my shoes would never fit in this tiny bag, butttt it is perfect for storing makeup brushes in, so I’m going to use mine to keep brushes in for travelling, or store brushes that need a clean. As crazy as it sounds, I think this bag is my favourite item in the box – it’s so lovely.
So that is the Birchbox June 2015 box and overall I am really happy. I think the designs of the box are stunning; there are three in total, and this is definitely my favourite from the three on offer. I think there is a great mix of products in the box.. haircare, bodycare, skincare and makeup which I really like, and I think that this box will be a big hit. I am particularly looking forward to trying the REN Beauty Shot and the Beauty Protector Leave in Conditioner…
