Glossybox August 2015 Unboxing and First Impressions

The July Glossybox was one of my favourites they’ve ever done, so the Glossybox August Box had a lot to live up to. The Glossybox August 2015 box has a global theme to celebrate Glossybox being available in ten countries, and contains four full sized products which is pretty good for £13.25. Glossybox have said that their August box has a minimum value of £58 so I was pretty excited to rip it open and see what was inside, especially as the box felt so heavy when it arrived.

The first product in the Glossybox August box is the SASS Purifying Cleanser, which is an ahem intimate wash. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this being included within the box, especially as Glossybox featured SASS only back in May of this year. The wash supposedly works as a probiotic to balance the skin’s PH levels.

Next up is the first of the full size products.. the MeMeMe Lip Glide Velvet Finish Lip Colour in the shade Playful Peach £6.95. I quite like MeMeMe so I was happy to see them feature within this box. This is described as a matte-velvet chubby lip crayon which claims to last all day, and Playful Peach is a bright peachy coral.

I can’t say I’ve found this crayon to be particularly matte, as it does have a subtle sheen to it so I’d describe it has having a satin formula rather than matte. It’s a little streaky to apply in all honesty, but it’s a lovely shade once you’ve built it up.

The next product in the Glossybox August 2015 box we have the NAOBAY Calming Face Toner 200ml £10.65. We’ve seen NAOBAY feature previously in the March box in the form of a face scrub which I actually quite liked so I’m not too bothered that they’ve brought the brand back again for this month.

The packaging is so lovely, with a matte white bottle and a real wooden lid which suits their natural and organic branding really well. This toner is 99.13% natural, and promises to remove makeup and cleanse, calm and hydrate the skin with a subtle citrus scent.

The next item is another full size, and originates from Sweden; the Emite Artist Colour Powder Blush £20.50 in the shade 108. Glossybox asked their subscribers if they’d like to receive a blusher or a bronzer this month, and the votes showed they wanted both so this is a blush and bronzer hybrid in a warm terracotta shade.

The texture is very creamy for a powder blush, and it’s very soft and crumbly but the pigment is fantastic. I think I’ll use this as a transition shade on my eyes rather than a blush or bronzer, as it’s much too dark for my skintone.

Lastly in the Glossybox August 2015 box we have the Manna Kadar Lash Conditioning Primer £14.55 which hails from the US, but I’ve never heard of the brand before personally. Described as having a creamy gel formula which works to nourish the lashes thanks to vitamin B12 to leave them conditioned and voluminous.

To use the primer, you simply wear it underneath your mascara for amplified lashes. This is my favourite item from the box, and the one I’m most looking forward to trying as I love using lash primers as they make such a difference to my pathetic lashes.

Overall I think the Glossybox August 2015 box is great, and I love that we have three makeup items this month as last month’s box was just skincare. I would like to see Glossybox using some new brands that haven’t featured in boxes, as we’ve had MeMeMe, SASS and NAOBAY all within the last three months so it does get a little repetitive in my opinion.

I did see that the US Glossybox contains GLAMGLOW this month, and I genuinely do feel that the US Glossybox is much better than ours every month from the many posts I read. I’m really looking forward to trying the Lash Primer, and I love the shade of the Lip Crayon…
