I had my first dabble with Jo Malone with their stunning Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne, and it was love at first spritz. When I saw that Jo Malone had launched the Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom fragrance to their already extensive collection, I was instantly intrigued as it sounded so unique to anything I’ve tried before. Jo Malone use such romantic and beautiful descriptions for their fragrances, which really make you want to try them…
Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom Cologne – £42
‘mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom. Creamy tonka and smooth sandalwood woven under powdery heliotrope and Damask rose picked at dawn. Warm, ethereal, mesmerising’.
The notes of the Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom Cologne consist of top notes of Cardamom (cool spice with hints of lemon and adds an effervescent contrast to the warm floral heart), heart notes of Mimosa (powdery mimosa adds a honeyed and warm floral character) and base notes of Tonka Bean (wonderfully warm with accents of almond, vanilla and aromatic tobacco). Due to the notes, I expected Mimosa and Cardamom to be a powerful strong fragrance but it’s been a massive surprise, and a good one at that – it is such an amazing scent. On first spritz, it does smell quite powdery which I initially didn’t like which worried me but within twenty minutes, the powdery-ness does dissipate and it becomes a lot warmer. I don’t find it to be very spicy at all which I found surprising, as I expected it to be an heady spicy scent but it’s quite light and not at all overpowering like I’d imagined.
On my skin it smells creamy, sweet and a little floral, and the scent reminds me of hot summer nights which I love as it carries a little summer through into Autumn and Winter. I am so impressed with how long lasting this Cologne is, as I found Wood Sage and Sea Salt to last only a couple of hours on my skin, but Mimosa and Cardamom is amazingly long lasting and I can still smell it on my skin the next day which is incredible. I cannot recommend this fragrance enough, it’s absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend giving this a spritz next time you’re passing a Jo Malone counter, although be prepared to part with some money as you’ll fall in love with it guaranteed.
