Essence Sheer and Shine Lipsticks

Essence recently launched their Autumn collection, which included their new Essence Sheer and Shine Lipsticks which are available in a total of 13 shades and only £2 each at Wilko. The Essence Sheer and Shine Lipsticks are described as having a super soft formula, with a lightweight texture, a subtle colour and fantastic shine.

Each of the lipsticks have a translucent plastic lid which is colour coded to match the shade of the lipstick inside which I really like, especially when you have multiple shades as you can easily tell them apart without having to read the shade names. Considering these lipsticks are just £2 each, I think the packaging looks a lot more luxe than their budget price tag and the base of each lipstick has a colour coded sticker too which is ideal if you store your lipsticks in acrylic lipstick containers.

I have three of the shades from the range; 01 My First Love, 04 Hidden Secret and 07 Sparkling Miracle and as the name suggests, they’re all very sheer. My First Love is super sheer, and doesn’t actually impart any colour at all which is a little disappointing, but it does leave my lips looking shiny.

Hidden Secret is a sheer brown toned nude which is perfect for everyday wear, and Sparkling Miracle is a sheer berry which I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this Autumn and Winter as I don’t like bold, dark lip shades but this sheer formula is a lot less intimidating than an opaque formula.

Due to the sheer formula, the colour does wear away quite quickly especially with eating and drinking but they’re so easy to apply and comfortable to wear, that reapplying them doesn’t bother me. I personally wouldn’t recommend My First Love as it’s essentially colourless, but I do really like Hidden Secret and Sparkling Miracle.
