Louise Young Pin Up Lip Colour Trio

2nd December 2015

Louise Young Cosmetics are very well known for their incredible brushes, but their makeup range doesn’t get the praise it deserves. I absolutely love my Louise Young Super Concealer Trio, so I was looking forward to trying one of their Lip Colour Trios. There are five different Louise Young Pin Up Lip Colour Trios, so there really is a shade combination for everyone and I have the Pin Up Trio.

The Lip Colour Trio is packaged within a small and compact brown plastic palette, which is identical to the packaging of the Super Concealer Trio but it’s pretty robust, and I like that it’s matte as the packaging doesn’t get dirty like a shiny compact would. Inside the Louise Young Pin Up Lip Colour Trio, there is an handy mirror within the lid as well as three generous 1.5g sized pans of lip colour as well as a miniature lip brush.

The packaging really is lovely, and it’s such a great size for popping in your makeup bag as it’s lightweight and takes up very little space. The Louise Young Pin Up Lip Colour Trio features three shades; Pretty Bird, Nancy and Reef, with the colours being quite similar in overall tone but the beauty of this little trio is that you can use the shades individually, or you can choose to mix them for a custom shade very easily with the brush.

Pretty Bird is a rosy nude shade with a very subtle shimmer, Nancy is a deeper nude, and more of a reddy brown shade again with a subtle shimmer, and Reef is a bright orangey coral without any shimmer.

All three shades are very pigmented, but they have a balm-like consistency which applies easily with both your fingertip or the brush. I really like that the three shades can be worn very sheerly when applied with your fingertip for a subtle stain like finish, or you can easily build them up for a fully opaque finish.

I’ve been impressed with the longevity of the shades, as I expected to them fade quite quickly as they’re so balmy, but they last for at least 2-3 hours with Reef lasting an hour or so longer. I think these trios are perfect for makeup bags as you don’t have to carry around numerous lipsticks, as you can just customise your shade from the trio – and you don’t have to worry about your lipstick bullets melting and getting damaged either which is always a bonus.
