I can’t resist a festive makeup collection, so when I spotted the No7 new Christmas collection, I knew I had to indulge in at least one item and I opted for the No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shimmer as I love cream eyeshadows, but I’ve never tried any cream shadows from No7 before.
Boots had an online points promotion where you got £10 of points for spending £60 online, so I ordered the Eye Shimmer online and I was pretty shocked when it arrived, as it only contains a measly 2.8 grams of product and it costs £8 which is awful when you compare it to the likes of the Maybelline Color Tattoos which contain 4 grams of product and are £4.99 each. If I’d have known how little product the pot contained, I would never have bought it in all honesty, as I think it’s poor value.
The No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shimmer is available in just one shade, and it doesn’t have a name but it’s a champagne shade packed with shimmer. The Eye Shimmer has a gel-like consistency which I’ve never seen before in a cream eyeshadow, but the gel consistency makes it difficult to apply with a brush so I prefer to use my fingertips but it’s quite sheer so I like to use MAC Painterly Paint Pot as a base for a slightly more intense effect.
It’s definitely a pretty shade, but it’s nothing special or unique so I’m not sure it’s worth the £8 price tag, especially as it contains such a small amount of product. I would recommend the MAC Bare Study Paint Pot over this No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shimmer as it’s more multi dimensional on the lids, and it’s easier to apply and blend. I do like No7 as a brand, but I can’t help but think that some of their makeup products are very overpriced for what they are.
