Makeup Forever HD Concealer

When Makeup Forever launched here in the UK, I was excited to finally try some of their products after reading such rave reviews. I ordered the Makeup Forever HD Concealer £21 on the Debenhams website without prior swatching but I had a look at swatches online and decided that 310 Pink Porcelain was the best shade for my skintone. The Makeup Forever HD Concealer claims to cover imperfections, and create a soft focus effect around the eyes for a ‘natural and radiant’ look.

The Makeup Forever HD Concealer technology is designed to look invisible both on HD cameras and to the naked eye, and the Makeup Forever HD Concealer is available in a total of 13 shades. The Makeup Forever HD Concealer is packaged within a plastic tube, which dispenses through a long and flexible silicone nib by twisting the base.

The nib is quite strange, and I’m not sure why it’s shaped the way it is as you couldn’t apply the concealer directly from the plastic nib so I dispense the concealer onto my fingertip and then blend it in with my fingertips.

However the downfall of this packaging is that there’s concealer in the middle of the nib after you’ve finished, and this concealer hardens over time so when you next come to use it, you have to squeeze and scrape the hardened concealer from the nib before dispensing any more which results in a lot of waste as you have to do this everytime you use it which is definitely a design flaw.

For the first time since I started wearing makeup, the shade 310 Pink Porcelain is much too pale for my skintone which is pretty remarkable considering I’m so pale. The consistency of the concealer is very dry, which I find a little odd for an under-eye concealer as it doesn’t blend in very easily and it clings to any dry skin and creases really badly which I find very aging.

I’m really disappointed in this concealer packaging, and consistency wise and I just couldn’t recommend it.. it’s very expensive too considering you only get 1.5ml of product, especially when you have to waste so much product between uses.

Have you tried any of the Makeup Forever concealers?
