Glo and Ray is a relatively new beauty brand based in the UK, and I’ve already had the pleasure of trying a few of their products here and here. I really liked what I’d tried so I really wanted to try some more of their products, so I got the Glo and Ray Fumo Eyebrow Pencil and La Amo Lipstick. The Glo and Ray Fumo Silky Eyebrow Pencil is £5.50 and the Glo and Ray La Amo-Shimmer Lip Colour is £12.
Glo and Ray is an online only beauty brand, but they have a really great range of products and shades, and the majority of their products are really affordable.
Glo and Ray La Amo-Shimmer Lip Colour – Honey 647
The La Amo-Shimmer Lip Colours are available in a total of ten shades, and are described as having a creamy shimmer finish, with a “Light Colour Fitness Complex alongside Micro-Shine Particles to provide a dazzling effect for irresistibly fuller looking lips”.
The name of this lipstick did put me off initially, as I don’t like shimmery lipsticks but I can’t detect any obvious shimmer in the shade Honey. I can only notice a tiny amount of shimmer when in direct sunlight, but even then it’s very subtle so please don’t be put off by the shimmer name if like me, you’re not a fan of shimmery lipsticks.
The packaging is gorgeous.. a bright red casing, with Glo & Ray etched into the side of the lipstick. I did think £12 is a little pricey for an affordable makeup brand, but this lipstick definitely feels luxurious in terms of its packaging and also its formula.
It’s lovely and creamy, which makes it super easy to apply although it does tend to gather in the lines of my lips a little so I like to use a clear lipliner underneath to try and stop that from happening, and it works really well. Honey is a really pretty mauvery pink with a slight brown tone, and it applies darker on the lips than it looks in the bullet. I don’t normally like browny nudes as they don’t flatter my skintone very well, but this one does.
I would describe the formula of the lipstick as being pretty spot on to the formula of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks except they’re over half the price. Longevity isn’t particularly impressive, but that’s to be expected from such a creamy and glossy lipstick, but it’s very comfortable on the lips.
Glo and Ray Fumo Silky Eyebrow Pencil – Terra Brown 21
There are only two shades available in the Fumo Silky Eyebrow Pencil which isn’t brilliant, but the lightest of the two shades; Terra Brown is the most perfect match for my very dark brows. The pencil has a metallic end to it, so I was a little worried I’d end up with shimmery slugs but luckily it’s completely matte.
Terra Brown is a cool toned dark brown, and I think it has the ideal formula for a brow pencil in that it’s slightly waxy which helps to blend in with your brow hairs, but it’s dry enough that it doesn’t smudge or transfer.
It is a pencil which requires sharpening, rather than being twisted up but I think it’s pretty good brow pencil, especially for only £5.50 but Glo and Ray really ought to introduce more shades as two is just not enough, as there is nothing for those with blonde/grey or even mousey coloured hair.
