Over the last couple of years, I’ve become obsessed with primers however I never even used to bother with them until I started bloggers and I saw the error of my ways and I’ve never looked back since, and always use primer whenever I use foundation. With primers, I tend to prefer hydrating formulas to help with my dry patches but recently I’ve been favouring the use of two primers which I know sounds pretty high maintenance but I’ve found it to make such a massive difference. I apply an hydrating primer first, and then go ahead and apply a pore refining primer over the top and it makes my skin look so much smoother with my dry patches looking a lot less noticeable. The newest primer in my collection is the Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate Primer which I’ve been lusting after for a weeks now after seeing some rave YouTube reviews.
I own quite a few Guerlain makeup products, and I’ve always loved what I’ve tried and feel the brand is quite underrated and deserves a lot more recognition. The Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate Primer £41.40 is definitely the most luxurious primer within my makeup collection, especially as it contains pure gold – yes, seriously.. it contains genuine 24k gold flakes.
The Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate Primer’s packaging is truly stunning, with a weighty clear glass bottle and a gold metal pump and lid. The bottle feels so luxurious, and I can’t help but feel fancy whenever I use it. Guerlain’s products are all so exquisitely packaged with incredible attention to detail.
Guerlain say;
Guerlain l’Or is an embellishing make-up base sprinkled with pure 24-carat gold flakes. Like the most luxurious jewellery pieces, the precious flakes were crafted into ultra-sparkling and ultra-reflective particles, then dispersed in a hydrating smoothing gel. The complexion is beautified. It glows with divine and unfailing radiance. Skin is smooth, supple and satiny, ready for perfect, enhanced and long-lasting make-up.
The Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate Primer has a gel-like consistency which massages into the skin very easily, and feels extremely hydrating on the skin with a soothing effect. I was worried the 24K gold flakes would feel quite gritty on the skin, but as soon as you begin to massage the primer into the skin, the flakes disintegrate which help to illuminate and brighten the skin.
Not only does this primer really hydrate the skin, it minimises any imperfections which you can see in the swatches above – all the lines on my skin have disappeared, it’s like magic or something. I’ve never seen such a noticeable smoothing effect from a primer which isn’t an heavily silicone based, slimey primer.
When I massage the primer into one half of my face, by the time I’ve moved onto the other side, it has smoothed the surface of my skin like some sort of gold flake induced sorcery and it wows me everytime I use it. I don’t understand why more people aren’t raving about this gem?!
I honestly feel that the Guerlain L’Or Radiance Concentrate Primer ticks all the boxes.. it hydrates, it plumps, it smooths the skin, minimises pores and imperfections as well as brightening the skin. I almost feel like that primer is more of a skincare product than a primer, but it does help to lock my foundation in place all day and it prevents my makeup from going patchy or uneven.
As if it can’t get any better, it also happens to smell incredible which just adds to the experience and I have to say.. it’s the best primer I’ve ever tried, and I don’t have to double prime whenever I use it as it fulfills all of my priming requirements. There’s no doubt that it’s a pricey primer, but I will 100% purchase a replacement when I finish this bottle but I imagine that’ll be ages away since you only need one and a half pumps for each use.
It’s love….
