L’Oreal is one of my favourite haircare brands, with their Elvive Triple Resist range being my ultimate favourite as they leave my hair feeling, looking and smelling incredible and it’s so affordable. The newest L’Oreal haircare release is the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray which is available in five hair colour shades; Black, Dark Brown, Brown, Dark Blonde and Light Blonde and are £8.99 each. Each of the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray is packaged within a turquoise aerosol can which supposedly gives upto 30 uses which I think is pretty good value.
I have two shades of the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray; Brown and Blonde, and the back of each can shows you the range of shades that each spray will suit which I think is really handy when you’re instore trying to work out which shade would be best.
The ‘Brown’ spray is only suitable for two shades of brown hair, whilst the ‘Blonde’ spray is suitable for three shades of blonde. The sprays have a great, concentrated nozzle which allows you to be really precise with your application which I really like especially as it’ll reduce wastage.
I’ve tried a brown root touch up spray before from another brand and in theory it sounded like a really great product, but it was a nightmare as it transferred like a spray in hair colour does so it made my pillow cases brown, and it actually stained them so I was a little apprehensive to try this L’Oreal version incase the same situation occurred.
However, the L’Oreal Magic Retouch Instant Root Concealer Spray is considerably better as it’s transfer proof and lasts in the hair until it’s shampooed out so you don’t have to worry about any transferring issues.
To use the spray, you simply apply to dry hair with the nozzle 10cm away in a light stream – less is definitely more and then use your fingertips to blend it in for a seamless finish. The spray does make your fingertips slightly coloured, but it washes off with water very easily. I have dark brown hair which I use semi-permanent dyes on for added vibrancy so this spray is ideal for keeping my roots at bay, and the Brown shade is a perfect match.
I don’t have any grey hairs (yet) so I can’t comment on how effective the spray is on grey coverage, but considering it works so well on my roots, I imagine it’s equally good at covering greys too. It’s such an handy product to have, and it works out at just 29 pence per use which is amazing…
