Back in January, Sleek MakeUP launched a new collection of Sleek MakeUP Lip VIP Lipsticks which consists of six different shades, and they are described as having a ‘semi-matte finish’. The Sleek MakeUP Lip VIP Lipsticks are £5.50 each which is pretty good as most middle range drugstore brands price their lipsticks at around £6.99 to £8.99 so I think these are great value for money.
Sleek also do a range of True Colour Lipsticks which are just £4.99 each and are available in a massive 31 different shades, and I’m an huge fan of them and own six shades so I had high hopes for the new Lip VIP Lipsticks. The packaging is quite plain, with a matte black plastic lid and a clear base which shows the shade of the lipstick which is quite handy as their True Colour Lipsticks are completely black so it’s nice to be able to tell which shade is which by just looking at them.
The lids are nice and secure, which might sound like a strange remark to make but they fit snugly so you know the lid won’t come off whilst in the bottom of your handbag causing carnage which is definitely a good thing. Each of the six lipsticks have a rounded bullet, with a flat angled tip which makes application easy, even and precise around the lip line thanks to their pointed tips.
Sleek claim that their Lip VIP’s have a velvety soft finish, with full coverage colour with staying power, a creamy formula which glides on smoothly and evenly and they contain vitamin E, shea butter and coconut oil to moisturise and nourish the lips. The six shades are quite bold as a whole, and I really hope they extend the shade range very soon as I’d love to see more nude, and everyday shades along the lineup as I’m really impressed with the formula.
Private Booth is a brown toned nude.
Reserved is a yellow toned medium pink.
Backstage is a bold pinky toned red.
Guest List is a bright and bold coral red.
Night Spot is a true blue toned red.
Flaunt It is a vivid orange toned red.
All six shades are decently pigmented with great colour pay off in just one swipe. They all apply very evenly, but I do notice that Private Booth feels a teeny bit chalkier than the other five shades but it evens itself out with a couple of swipes. I really like how comfortable the shades are, and I can’t believe the staying power of Flaunt It, Night Spot and Guest List – they last and last, and last some more as they really stain the lips.
I haven’t noticed any bleeding from any of the shades, and I don’t find the formula at all drying. If you’re fond of the formula of the Sleek True Colour Lipsticks, I think you’d love the new Sleek MakeUP Lip VIP Lipsticks as the formula, pigmentation and colour intensity is very similar but the Lip VIPs are more nourishing and comfortable on the lips.
I’d love to know which shade is your favourite from the line up? I think mine would have to be Private Booth as I love a good nude lip…
