I’ve thoroughly enjoyed trying some of the Giorgio Armani beauty products over the last few months and I can totally understand why their products are so hyped as the quality is amazing. The most recent addition to my beauty collection is the Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Skin Defense Primer SPF50 £40 is described as being an reinvented everyday skin protection, and is a protective wonder for your skin.
It blends high UV protection and antioxidant action, concentrating these two properties within a transparent, extremely fine texture which can be used under makeup or on its own and is suitable for all skin types. I have to admit, I sometimes forget to wear a facial SPF when it’s not Summer which I know is awful as UV rays are damaging all year round so I really like the idea of a primer which I can wear under my makeup yet protect my skin at the same time.
What is it?!
Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Skin Defense Primer is a new-generation makeup base that improves overall makeup results and prolongs wear while combating anti-aging enemies such as sun damage and pollution. Broad spectrum SPF 50 provides UVA/UVB filters that are completely transparent. These filters disperse onto the skin invisibly, absorbing rays and preventing them from reaching the skin. Targeted fillers blur imperfections and smooth the skin, creating a surface for an all-day impeccable makeup result.
The Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Skin Defense Primer is packaged within a gorgeous white, glass bottle with a pipette just like the packaging on their Maestro Glow Nourishing Fusion Makeup Bi-Phase Elixir so you can dispense the product onto the back of your hand and then apply the primer to your face with your fingertips, Beauty Blender or makeup brush of choice.
The primer has a milky appearance and consistency which surprised me for a primer, as I’ve never used a primer as runny as this one before but I’ve found I need two pinches of the pipette to dispense enough primer for my face and neck. I wouldn’t normally apply primer to my neck, but as this one contains SPF50 I feel that I should apply it to my neck too.
Seeing as this primer is marketed as being a skin protection primer, I didn’t really expect very much in terms of being a makeup primer but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It has a lovely, lightweight consistency which absorbs into the skin with little effort and it doesn’t leave any residue on my skin so it doesn’t ball up or effect my makeup application.
I do definitely notice that the longevity of my makeup is improved when I wear with this primer, but it doesn’t do anything to help conceal or minimise my pores; however it doesn’t make any claim to, so I use this primer all over my face and then apply a pore minimising primer in my problem areas such as my forehead, nose and cheeks and the combination works really well and I particularly like that my skin’s being so well protected too without any white cast or chalkiness.
