My eyelashes are seriously awful, and I know that everyone says that but they truly are; you can barely see them even with mascara on, so I’m always on the lookout for products which will help them as I hate them so much. I spotted the Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 Eyes and Lashes whilst perusing their website and I was instantly intrigued as eye lash treatments tend to be gels that you apply to the lashes with a wand, so I really liked the sound of a serum which would potentially benefit both my eyes and lashes.
The Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 Eyes and Lashes £25 is described as being an all in one product which illuminates, lifts and rejuvenates the eye area. The serum is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive, and claims to tackle a loss of radiance around the eye contour.
The serum works to instantly illuminate the eyes whilst fortifying the eyelashes and is enriched with Rhamnose, which is a unique ingredient that stimulates the natural renewal of collagen fibres and the surface layer of the skin.
The box contains directions on how to use the serum as well as a diagram which I found helpful. Vichy recommend that the serum is used twice daily, and apply one drop of serum to your fingertips for both your eyes so you really don’t need much. Once you have the serum on your fingertips you firstly lightly pat the serum under and around the eyes with light pressure.
Next you need to do a ‘blindfold gesture’ where you swipe your fingers across your eyelids and lashes, and lastly with closed eyes use your finger to push your lashes up to ensure they’re fully covered in serum. The serum can be used with a standard eye cream, but I found that I didn’t need to use an additional eye cream as the serum imparted enough moisture, but in the evenings I definitely prefer to use an hydrating eye cream in addition to this serum.
The Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10 Eyes and Lashes is packaged within a 15ml, metal bottle with a pump and the serum itself is a white almost pearlised colour. The serum feels incredibly cooling and soothing on the eyes which is down to the metal bottle as it keeps the serum nice and cool, and it feels so good on my puffy morning eyes and I’m tempted to keep it in the fridge during the summer when my hayfever will be causing mayhem in the mornings.
The serum is very lightweight and absorbs into my skin and lashes with very little effort, and it really does have an instant brightening effect which I guess is because of the pearlised finish to the serum.
I’m not entirely sure the serum has improved my lashes, but I have definitely noticed that I am losing less lashes when removing my eye makeup with micellar water which is worth it alone as I don’t have very many to lose in the first place. I also really like the brightening effect the serum has under my eyes as it helps to reduce any darkness after a netflix binge night but also preps my eyes for my eye makeup too, and as it’s lightweight it doesn’t cause any creasing of my concealer or eyeshadow.
