Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balm

The Clinique Pop Lip Colour Lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas, so when I saw that they’d launched the Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balms, I knew I wanted to give them a try. The Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balms are £15 each and are available in a total of five shades, and I have the Red Velvet shade.

The Sweet Pots are described as being a 2 in 1 pampering treat, with a sugar smoothing scrub as well as a tinted moisturising balm in one handy pot, which is shaped like a macaron with the scrub in a frosted plastic pot and a shiny plastic pot for the balm.

The scrub part of the Sweet Pots is pretty disappointing sadly as there’s hardly any sugar particles at all, so I find that I have to almost dig my finger into the pot to scoop enough sugar particles to fully exfoliate my lips which I imagine will mean that it wont last me very long.

The particles are very small so they don’t exfoliate the lips very well which is such a shame as I love using a lip scrub before applying my lip products but this scrub isn’t scrubby enough to scrub the lips. Once you’ve scrubbed your lips (or tried to in this case), you simply remove the residue from your lips before applying the lip balm.

The balm side of the Clinique Sweet Pots is supposedly tinted but I don’t find that it imparts any tint to lips whatsoever which again is disappointing, but the balm itself is nice and it does leave my lips feeling soft and hydrated. I really like using tinted lipbalms on no makeup days, but the tint of this ‘tinted lipbalm’ is just non-existent which is such a shame as Clinique lip products are usually so impressive.

Although there are five different shades available, I honestly can’t see the point of purchasing more than one shade as the tint isn’t there to warrant owning more than one. I would actually recommend skipping the Sweet Pots entirely and go for the Clinique SuperBalm Moisturising Glosses instead as they’re lovely and balmy, and they do add a little colour to your lips and they last for a long time too as they contain 10ml of gloss, and they’re not at all sticky.
