Laura Geller Ballerina Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator

I’ve always been a fan of Laura Geller ever since I first tried their Balance ‘n Brighten Foundation over a year ago, but I feel like their popularity has soared thanks to their Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators; Gilded Honey in particular which is pretty much sold out most of the time. In addition to Gilded Honey there is also the Laura Geller Ballerina Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator, but they have just released a couple of more shades to the range.

The Laura Geller Ballerina Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator is £21 and it contains 4.5g of product which I’d normally not be too impressed with, but due to the baked nature of this illuminator it really is very intensely pigmented so you only a tiny amount.

The Ballerina Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator is described as having an innovative hybrid texture which applies like a sheer powder but feels like a cream, creating a translucent wash of luminous colour that can be swept all over the face for a lit-from-within glow.

The pan features a 3D design which captures the look of Laura Geller’s favourite Italian dessert, and lasts until the very last application. The packaging of the Gelato Swirl Illuminators is identical to their blushes, with a round black plastic base and a clear domed lid. The swirl design of the powder really is beautiful, and although it feels quite gritty and firm, it really does help with the highly pigmented application.

Laura Geller describes her Ballerina Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator as being a ‘candlelit rose gold’ but to me it’s actually very much more of a rosy toned bronze as it’s very warm in tone – in fact I think Ballerina would work perfectly as a shimmery bronzer, but I personally prefer my bronzers to be matte. Due to my very pale skintone, I have to use a very very light hand and a fan brush for a very light dusting across my cheekbones, but it’s so easy to go overboard as it’s so intensely pigmented.

My favourite way to use Ballerina is actually as an eyeshadow as it’s so beautiful with a gorgeous metallic sheen. I would love to try the two newer shades as they look like they’re perhaps slightly paler than Ballerina and Gilded Honey which might suit my pale skin tone a little more, but there’s absolutely no doubt that the Ballerina Illuminator is a beautiful product.
