Following the success of the Marks and Spencer Rose for Autograph Makeup Range, the range has extended to include fragrance and some bodycare items including the new Rosie for Autograph Summer Rose Shimmer Body Oil just in time for Summer £15. When I first saw the Shimmer Body Oil, it instantly reminded me of the Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil from their Summer collection last year except theirs was £32 so I was interested to see how the Rosie for Autograph Summer Rose Shimmer Body Oil compared, especially as it’s less than half price.
The Rosie for Autograph Summer Rose Shimmer Body Oil is described as being a lightweight shimmer body oil which illuminates the skin, giving a subtle all over golden glow. It contains oils of camelina and sweet almond to help moisturise and soften the skin, and is completely cruelty free.
The Summer Rose Shimmer Body Oil is packaged within a beautiful clear glass bottle, with a rose gold lid which features a rose on the lid which carries on the theme from the makeup collection. The packaging really is stunning, and it feels very luxurious considering it’s not an highend brand.
The body oil contains a lot of shimmer, and I thought the oil was golden but it’s actually a clear oil with golden shimmer suspended within it so it doesn’t look too dark for my pale skintone. As you can see from my swatch, the oil leaves behind a pretty glow from the oil, with subtle shimmer which looks really pretty but I imagine it’d look even prettier on darker skintones, or those with a tan.
I was a little worried that the oil would have a strong rose scent as I’m not a rose fan, but it’s more of a sweet floral fragrance which is quite light and ideal for Summer when I prefer lighter fragrances. I think this oil will become a summer staple, especially for when I’m feeling brave enough for bare legs and want a subtle sheen to my skin.
