Birchbox June 2016

Birchbox June 2016

10th June 2016

For the month of June, Birchbox’s theme is ‘Paradise Found‘ and the box fits that theme perfectly with its palm tree design (some subscribers will get a pineapple design which is also super cute) and bright colours. The box for this month has had a little update too for one month only, and has a sliding keepsake drawer instead of the usual lidded box. The Birchbox June 2016 box contains everything we need to get us through the next few weeks supposedly and there’s even a chance to win £250 of Quay sunglasses and beauty treats if you upload a photo of your box to Instagram with the hashtag although you must be a subscriber to enter.

I thought I’d kick off with my two least favourite items within the box to get them out of the way and there’s a 25ml sample of the James Read Overnight Sleep Mask Tan worth £12.50, and a 15ml sample of the Absolution Le Nettoyant Pureté worth £2.73.

It’s all down to personal preference but I don’t use fake tan so I’m always disappointed when it’s included within boxes but I know I’m in the minority so I imagine a lot of people will be happy to receive this tanning mask in the box. This mask is something you apply before bed and it develops whilst your sleep, and it’s completely colourless so there’s no risk of staining your sheets/pillows, and it can be built upon for a more intense tan depending on the intensity you want.

The Absolution product is a cleansing gel which is suitable for all skin types and contains 99% natural ingredients, and 30% are from organic farming. This gel claims to gently cleanse the skin whilst thoroughly removing impurities and makeup, while soothing and regulating it. I will definitely use this cleansing gel but I’ve tried a few Absolution products thanks to beauty boxes, and I’m yet to be wowed but it’s an handy size if you’re going away for a weekend as it contains enough for a few uses.

The next product within the box is the Percy & Reed Session Hold Hairspray 50ml worth £2.40 which is a firm hold hairspray minus a sticky finish, which is completely humidity resistant. I have tried this hairspray before and I really like it so I’m happy to have a mini size for handbag, and it really does give great hold but doesn’t feel sticky or crispy, and I quite like the scent too. I always like the packaging on the Percy & Reed packaging with the illustrations, and it has a matte finish on the bottle too.

Then we have my favourite product within the box – a 25ml tube of the heavenly Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Soufflé Body Creme worth £3.75 which appeared in the April 2014 box too, but I don’t mind at all as it’s one of my all time favourite bodycare products, and I reviewed the full size here.

I love this body cream so much, and the Ambre Vanillé fragrance is incredible and I’m going to use this mini tube as an hand cream within my handbag as I use the full size jar for my body. It’s a decadent, rich cream which leaves my skin feeling very soft and the scent lingers for hours and I know it’s pricey, so this sample size is ideal to give it a try before parting with the £45 for the full size.

The last item within the Birchbox June 2016 is the Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigments worth £17.95 which is supposedly full size. I don’t think I’m the only one who’s tired of seeing Jelly Pong Pong within beauty boxes, especially as I don’t think the products are particularly very good quality for their listed price tags.

There are two shades which will feature in boxes, and I got the Cake Pop shade which is a very bold coral, and it can be used to add colour on the cheeks or lips. The shade does look a little intimidating within the glass jar, but thankfully it’s a lot more subdued on the cheeks and lips and it’s easy to blend but it’s not worth £18 in my opinion.

So that’s everything within this month’s Birchbox, and the value is £39.33 which is over double the cost of the box so it’s a pretty good one in terms of value. I think I preferred last month’s box to this box, but I absolutely love the Laura Mercier Soufflé so that’s my standout product in the box for me. I’d love to know if you got anything different in your box in the comments below.. which is your favourite product this month?
