Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel

If I was to name my five top holy grail skincare products, very close to the top would be the Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Pads, and I have lost count on how many people have bought them after my recommendation and have loved them as much as I do. I’ve tried other products from Nip and Fab and I’ve always been impressed with what I’ve tried, and their Glycolic Scrub Fix is my all time favourite scrub so when I saw the Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel on offer for half price at Superdrug, I thought it was very much worth giving a go as I’ve had such a good experience with everything I’ve tried from the Nip and Fab brand.

Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel

The Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel 40ml £14.95 is described as being a night-time clarifying treatment for dull and oily skin, and it contains glycolic and salicylic acid which combine to resurface and purify the skin by gently lifting away dead skin cells with a continuous deep pore cleansing action. By the morning skin supposedly will look and feel fresher and smoother and skin tone will improve over time.

Nip and Fab recommend applying this gel at night after you’ve cleansed your skin by gently massaging it in until it’s fully absorbed. Due to the active ingredients, you must wear SPF when using this treatment within your routine to keep your skin fully protected.

The Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel contains;

Glycolic Acid: increases cell turnover to exfoliate the skin and helps fade discolouration.
Salicylic Acid: unclogs pores to help tackle blackheads and reduce blemishes.
Niacinamide: acts as an anti-inflammatory on the skin helping to reduce the production of sebum which causes large pores to develop and acne.

The gel is packaged within a squeezy plastic tube, and the gel itself is clear and quite thick. I’ve been applying the gel to my blemish prone areas along my jawline and chin, and I’ve been using it on my cheeks too where I have a few dry patches to see if it would deliver on its claims. The first thing I must mention is its scent.

Out of all the Nip & Fab products I’ve tried, this gel has the worst scent; it really isn’t pleasant and the only way I can describe it as ‘fishy’ which is less than ideal with a product you’re smearing over your face before bed. I don’t know the gel smells so bad as none of their other products smell like this, but it’s not the nicest I have to admit and I dread applying the gel as I know what’s coming scent wise.

Grim scent aside, does it work?! Yes and no. I think it does make a difference in fading my blemish scarring but apart from that, I haven’t noticed any improvement to my skin’s texture/tone nor have I noticed any reduction in blemishes, blackheads and sebum. I don’t think the gel exfoliates my skin, or increases cell turnover either so it’s a weird one.

The gel doesn’t do anything to my skin’s surface apart from quickening the fading process of my scarring which is disappointing, and I have much cheaper products than £14.95 that does the same. I have really tried to love the Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel as I’m such a massive fan of their other Glycolic Fix products, and I’ve tried using it in a multitude of ways but sadly it doesn’t make any difference.

I would recommend skipping this gel completely, and instead go for the Glycolic Fix Facial Pads of the Glycolic Fix Scrub as they both offer considerably effective results from the very first use and they’re slightly less damaging on the wallet.

The Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel is available to purchase for £14.95 from Nip and Fab and Superdrug.
