The Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer is one of my most used hair products and I use it almost everytime I blowdry my hair because it cuts my blowdrying time down as well as helping to protect my hair from heat damage. Redken have added another product to their bestselling Pillow Proof line which is the Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry Express Treatment Primer Cream £17.
The new Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry Express Treatment Primer Cream promises to reduce blow-dry time, protect the hair from heat up to 450 degrees, help reduce breakage and provides 24-hour lasting volume without weighing hair down. After using the blow-dry primer cream, hair is left 3x stronger and healthier and perfectly primed for any styling.
The Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry Express Treatment Primer Cream’s claims;
- Hydrating and nourishing cream;
- Protects from heat up to 450 degrees;
- Reduces blow-dry time;
- Helps prevent breakage;
- 3x stronger and healthier hair;
- Boosts the benefit of styling products.
The packaging is really sleek with the cream being dispensed through a hole in the top of the tube when you press down which allows you to control how much or how little you’re wanting to dispense. The cream offers protection upto 232c which I find is great for when I’m using a hairdryer but if I use my straighteners or a curling wand, I’d still prefer to use an additional heat protection spray but it’s reassuring to know that this cream offers extra protection.
Not only does the Primer Cream help protect the hair, but it also claims to cut blowdrying time down so I was interested to see how it compared to the spray version and I’d say it offered the same results where my hair would take around ten minutes of blowdrying without using the Redken Pillow Proof products but when I use either this Primer Cream or the spray, the time is reduced to five or six which is really impressive.
I find that with my almost waist length hair, I need two full pumps when using the cream as a primer within my damp hair and the cream smells really lovely just like the whole Redken haircare collection but the scent doesn’t linger in the hair like it does with the spray version but that doesn’t bother me too much as my heat protection spray’s scent would overpower it anyway. The cream is easy to work through my hair and it instantly adds softness even before I’ve blowdried and styled it.
I use a primer for my eyeshadow, my foundation and sometimes my lips but I can’t recall ever using a hair primer and I didn’t really think the concept would work but it really does as it contains Redken’s Microflex Stylane technology which creates a protective thermal blanket on hair for lasting style memory and strength whilst Trisiloxane and Isododecane help to reduce blow-dry time and achieve a silky-smooth finish.
I really do think the Redken Pillow Proof Blowdry Express Treatment Primer Cream helps to make my hair a lot sleeker, and a lot more cooperative when it comes to styling so I end up using less heat as it takes less time to blowdry and/or straighten which makes it a great addition to my haircare routine.
