When it comes to makeup removal, I always use a micellar water to remove the majority of makeup before following up with a cleanser for a thorough clean. The only bi-phase eye makeup remover I’ve tried is the Lancome Bi Facil which is amazing, but at £21.50 it’s not exactly purse friendly so I was intrigued by the Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover when I saw it on offer at half price at Superdrug. The Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover £3.49 claims to remove all makeup, even waterproof makeup without any rubbing required. The Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover is enriched with arginine to protect the eyelashes and supposedly leaves a protective layer on the lashes.
Due to the bi-phase formula, you need to shake the bottle to mix the fluid together before pouring some onto a cotton pad. I found that this remover doesn’t go very far at all, and I have to really drench my cotton pad to get it wet enough to remove my makeup. The Garnier bottle is pretty small at 125ml and in a month of use, I have perhaps only a quarter left so it’s not particularly good value. The directions say that you don’t need to rub your eyes to remove your makeup but you really do, otherwise it doesn’t touch your mascara and eyeliner.
Overall it works OK to remove my eye makeup but it’s nothing groundbreaking or special and I’d much rather use micellar water as I find it to be a lot more effective. With this Express 2 in 1 Eye Makeup Remover, I do find that it leaves my eyelids and lashes feeling greasy even though it specifically says it’s non-greasy but I hate the greasiness it leaves behind so I have to follow up with a micellar water anyway, so I’d much rather just skip this step and use a micellar water to remove the entirety of my makeup so it’s not something I’d repurchase sadly.
