I can’t quite believe it’s August already with Christmas fast approaching at an alarming rate, and yes I did just use the C word. This month’s Glossybox August 2016 is a celebratory edition as it marks their fifth birthday and they’ve collaborated with Rae Feather for a special edition box and each box will contain a Rae Feather GB Pouch which is supposedly worth £20 which I doubt as you can’t purchase it individually and I’m not into the whole monogram craze but I imagine some subscribers will like it, but I would have preferred an actual product instead as the box only contains four beauty products this month.
The first product within the Glossybox August 2016 is the Spa to You Deep Pore Cleansing Facial Brush and Massager worth £6.99, which is a plastic brush with ‘silky soft bristles and silicone cushions’ which work to massage the skin to improve microcirculation for renewed radiance, and buff away dead skin cells. The bristles aren’t that soft really, and definitely not soft enough for me to use on my face as my skin is very sensitive but it works well as body polisher when used with body scrub so all is definitely not lost.
Then we have another skincare product (three in this month’s box out of four) and it’s a 20ml sample of the Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask worth £19.66 – wow. I never expected this tiny sample to be so pricey, but it’s described as a pore refining, hydrating, anti-ageing, brightening and smoothing mask which is totally paraben free. I wish this sample was a teeny bit bigger as it’s probably my favourite item from this month’s box, as I love mud masks as they’re so effective but it’s a great size for a couple of uses at the minimum.
The only makeup item in the box is the MUA Hall of Fame Palette. This month Glossybox gave subscribers the choice of one of four palettes, and this palette contains 12 of the most popular shades from MUA and I already own it so I’ll pass it onto someone who doesn’t own it already. The MUA palettes are £4 each and they contain twelve generously sized pans, and the MUA shadow formula is pretty good so this will be a good addition to the box for many I imagine but I just wish we had more than one makeup item this month but that’s just because I much prefer makeup over skincare.
The final item in the Glossybox August 2016 box is a 30ml sample of the COWSHED Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion worth £2. This lotion contains essential oils of lemongrass, ginger and rosemary which sadly are three of my least favourite scents (what are the chances!) so I won’t be using it, but I’ve tried a few COWSHED products before and I’ve always liked what I’ve tried.
So that’s this month’s box, I have to be honest.. I am a little underwhelmed for a ‘birthday box’ especially as Glossybox always usually nail it. I’d love to know your thoughts?
