Kiehls are perhaps one of the most well known skincare brands for both their fantastic products and their admirable charity collaborations. Amazingly, Kiehls began way back in 1851 as an old-world apothecary and they’re still going very strong today. Kiehls‘ most recent collaboration is with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and British Singer/Songwriter Laura Mvula to create a limited edition version of the iconic Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, and for each 125ml Limited Edition pot sold, Kiehls will donate £10 from each sale to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation to support three projects around the world to empower and educate young women about the prevention of HIV and AIDS.
The Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream 125ml £43.50 is described as having a lightweight texture with an easily absorbed formula making it ideal for daily use. The Ultra Facial Cream is specially formulated with moisturising Squalane and water retaining Imperata Cylindrica to protect the skin throughout harsh weather conditions and to help your skin to stay hydrated for longer.
This is such a generously sized pot at 125ml so I can’t imagine how long this will last me, but it will definitely prove to be good value even with me using it twice daily. I expected the cream to be quite thick and rich, but it really is lightweight like it claims and feels almost like a gel-cream as it’s easy to massage into the skin, and a little goes a long way.
I’ve found that I only need to apply around a £2 coin sized amount for my full face and neck and it feels so soothing and lovely on the skin. Even though the formula of the cream is pretty lightweight, it still offers decent hydration for my super dry skin and it leaves my face feeling incredibly soft and smooth and I’m confident it will perfect for my skin even in the cooler months when my skin can become even drier. It’s clear to see why this is one of Kiehl’s most popular products as it’s such a great moisturiser and I reckon it’d suit most skin types due to how lightweight it is.
Laura Mvula helped design the special lid for the campaign and I love how brightly coloured it is. This campaign really is a great one, and since the 1980’s Kiehls have strived to work with like minded organisations to fight the HIV and AIDS epidemic and in the last 10 years they’ve helped raise more than $2,800,000 which is a phenomenal amount of money. In addition to the limited edition Ultra Facial Cream, Kiehls will also be hosting instore fundraising events to help fund the important educational projects in India and Africa.
The MTV Staying Alive Foundation is an international charity working to build an empowered and educated generation of young people, equipped with the tools and knowledge to protect themselves and their peers from the HIV epidemic. They provide training and vital funding to grassroots, youth-led initiatives around the world that provide education about HIV and sexual and reproductive health in their local communities.
If you’re in the market for a new moisturiser, I’d really recommend the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream as it’s a great, hydrating yet lightweight moisturiser but by purchase one of the special edition tubs, you’ll also be doing your bit towards the campaign as Kiehls will donate £10 from each pot sold which is just fantastic.
