I had never heard of the L.A.B.2 brand until a few weeks ago when I tried their L.A.B.2 Lash Out Loud Mascara Wands which I love, so I knew I’d love the L.A.B.2 Pro Makeup Brush Kits. I have two of the kits; the L.A.B.2 I’m Turning Pro Brush Kit £20 and the L.A.B.2 Strokes of Genius Brush Kit £17, both of which are available from beautyMART are so sleekly packaged within an almost rubberised cardboard box. The L.A.B.2 brushes are made from synthetic bristles with “FiberLuxe Technology” which are said to provide superior pigment pick-up and optimal release.
All of the brushes are really stunning quality, and I’m so surprised I’ve never heard anyone mention them before as they’re so impressive. The handles of the brushes are rubberised similar to that of the NARS packaging, and the ferrules look black but they have the most amazing almost oil on water effect, with a green/purple/red/blue/yellow shift.
I’ve never seen such pretty ferrules; they really are beautiful brushes to look at and to hold and the brushes have their individual names on the handles so you know which is which, with face brushes having yellow writing and eye brushes having teal writing which again is a nice touch. I think these sets are really great value too with the eye brush set being just £17 with each brush working out at just £3.40 each, and the face brush set is £5 per brush.
Eyeshadow Brush: for applying colour evenly onto the lid, crease and brow bone.
Brow & Eyeliner Brush: doubles up as a brow filler and for extra definition of lash lines.
Pointed Eyeliner Brush: is short and neat to deliver a precise, controllable line.
Crease Brush: is specially shaped for seamless blending. Use the tufted end and work back and forth into the crease.
Brow & Lash Groomer: is a double headed comb and brush for detailing the brows before or after applying colour.
Contour Brush: is shaped to sculpt, contour and highlight facial features for subtle definition and a soft-focus finish.
Foundation Brush: for smooth, streak-free coverage for applying liquid foundation or concealer. The specially shaped end makes light work of the contours around the eyes and sides of nose.
Buffing Brush: provides full coverage powder or mineral make-up application and can be used to soften any harsh lines for an airbrushed effect. Its smooth, rounded head works product into the skin until it’s invisible.
Eyeshadow Brush: shades and defines eyes depositing an even application of colour. Use the flat side of the brush to apply colour then the end to blend.
I think both of these L.A.B.2 Pro Makeup Brush Kits are well worth their price tag, and I would even go as far to say, I think they’re better quality than the Real Techniques brush sets and I much prefer the straight handles as the Real Techniques weird chunky bases are a nightmare for storage and I think the L.A.B.2 Pro Makeup Brush Kits are just aesthetically more appealing and really do feel and perform like professional brushes – minus the hefty price tag.
