Essence is one of my favourite budget brands and I’m always looking out for their newest releases so I was excited to see their newest Autumn additions, and I have four products from the range to show you today. The new Essence Autumn releases 2016 is quite extensive but it looks like only a few of the new products have filtered through onto the Wilko website which is the only downside as their website isn’t update very frequently and stands can be a little messy but I always find that the products are worth the extra perseverance to get hold of them. Due to these products not being on the Wilko website yet, I’m unable to link to them directly or check prices but they’ll all be under £3 like the majority of the brand’s products.
Essence The Metals Eyeshadow – shade 02 Frozen Toffee: This is one of the prettiest solo eyeshadows I’ve ever used and I cannot recommend it enough. Frozen Toffee is the most beautiful silvery taupe shade which looks a little lilac in some lights with a gorgeous shimmer. The shadow can be used both wet or dry but I’m more than happy with the colour intensity whilst using it dry and I definitely want more shades once they launch.
Essence Rock ‘n Doll Duo Stylist Eyeliner Pen: Sadly this liner is the least impressive from the foursome and is a felt tip liner with a ball on the end which creates a thick, bold line and doesn’t offer any precision or the ability to draw a thinner line. Once the liner has dried, it has a matte finish but it’s a little watery for my liking as I like my black eyeliner to be an intense black.
Essence The Gel Nail Polish – shade 78 Royal Blue: I have the whole main collection of these nail polishes and I really like them but they do have quite thick formulas so I recommend using a nail polish thinner, and adding two to three drops to help thin the polish out a little which really helps in terms of application. Royal Blue is a deep navy and before I added a thinner, the formula was quite gloopy but after adding thinner it became opaque in two coats. The Essence The Gel polishes all have a wide, thin brush which works really well at applying a thin and even coat to the nails, and they’re usually only £1.60 each.
Essence Mat Mat Mat Lipstick – shade 07 Purple Powder: This swatch is just two swipes of the lipstick and I can’t believe how creamy the formula is for a matte lipstick; I had to double check the label to make sure it was a matte as it glides across the skin with zero tugging to dryness and I couldn’t wait to get it on my lips.
Purple Power isn’t at all purple strangely enough – it’s more of a deep, Autumnal berry which is very pretty but the shade name is a little strange. According to the Essence website, there are eight shades within the Mat Mat Mat Lipstick range so I’ll be hunting down the pretty nudes and pinks as soon as I can get my hands on them.
I’d love to know what you think about these new Essence releases?
