Glossybox September 2016

14th September 2016

Glossybox is usually my favourite beauty box in the under £15 beauty box category however I feel that their August box was a little disappointing compared to their boxes especially as it was a celebratory birthday box so I had high hopes that the Glossybox September 2016 box would be a lot better and I’m very pleased to say it really is.

For this month’s box, Glossybox have collaborated with Red Magazine and the box is an amazingly vibrant red colour which I love – I always appreciate it when Glossybox do themed, special design boxes and this is one of my favourites as it’s so bold. Let’s jump in and see what I got in my box this month..

Glossybox September 2016

Kicking things off we have the Hydro Face Mask 120 Hours of Hydration (worth £7.99). When I saw the price quoted on the card within the box, I assumed that the price would have been for a box of the masks but amazingly this one use mask is £7.99.

This double piece sheet mask contains rose of Jericho and has been designed to provide hydration and moisture retention in the skin. I love a good sheet mask but I’d never pay £8 for one single use mask so it’s a nice way to be able to try something I’d never normally buy.

The next item in the box is a full size of the Rodial Smokey Eye Pen (worth £17). I’ve tried a couple of Rodial makeup products and I’ve liked what I’ve tried so I was happy to see a full size Rodial product within the box, especially when it’s £3 more than the total box cost. I love using eyeliner, and I’m always on the lookout for super pigmented, smooth and creamy pencil liners for my waterline/tightline and this looks like it could tick all of those boxes.

The next product in the Glossybox September 2016 box is a 50ml sample of the L’Occitane Precious Cleansing Foam (worth £6.33). Even though this is a sample, it’s a pretty generous sample as the full size is 150ml so this 50ml size will allow you to get a really good feel for the product.

This Cleansing Foam is enriched with organic immortelle floral water and gently cleanses the face and eliminates impurities to unveil all the freshness of young skin. Due to my dry skin, I don’t like using foaming facial products as they have the tendency to dry my skin further but L’Occitane is a great brand and I imagine this will be a very welcome addition for most subscribers.

Boxes this month will all get a 4.8 gram sample of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara either in the original formula or the newer waterproof formula (worth £11.40). I am a massive fan of the Better Than Sex Mascara even though the name is seriously cringe and I’ve not tried the waterproof version yet so I was pleased to get the waterproof sample in my box. The original formula is one of my all time favourite mascaras so I hope the waterproof formula is just as good but I love the water drop texture to the packaging and tube itself.

The last product in the box is the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat which is another full sized item (worth £7.99) and is described by Revlon as their toughest top coat yet, with exclusive Diamond Flex Technology, which is specifically designed to activate their ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Enamels. I’ve got the original formula of this topcoat, but I’ve not tried this newer version although I’m not sure if it’ll be any different but I’ll certainly give it a try.

In addition to the five products this month, we also got a 5ml sample of The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask which was a nice extra especially as it was an extra and not in the place of a product like some boxes do (without naming any names).

I’ve heard so much buzz about the new The Body Shop Masks so I can’t wait to try this and I think 5ml is quite a generous sample, and definitely enough for one use and I like that the card mentions the other masks in the range too.

Overall this month’s box is one of my favourite boxes they’ve done this year and I really love that they’ve included three makeup products as I much prefer makeup in my beauty boxes but I know it’s all down to preference.

I particularly like that there are three full sized products this month when you compare the contents to this month’s Birchbox as they had no full sizes (they rarely do) so I really do feel that Glossybox is better value but I’d love to know if you got anything different in your box this month?

If you love this month’s box as much as I do, you can get 10% off by entering MAGPIESEPT10 at the checkout to get 10% off your first box (valid until the end of September).
